4Kids Talkback: The Crossroads of Destiny - The 4Kids Discussion V10

Yeah, they definitely didn't upload 111 by accident. You just don't skip ahead 50 episodes to the first episode that was skipped. Between that and spidey4545's reasoning from 4Kids, it seems less and less likely that these episodes were dubbed. It's still too early to say for sure though.

If the episodes weren't dubbed, I would imagine that the production codes would have stayed consistent, and not included the skipped episodes.

Okay, a question that I have:

If 4Kids is trying to shorten the storyline, is that pretty much the unannounced confirmation that they only went to 137?

Secondly, I actually found this video of Dan Green from Australia last weekend.

It seems that Dan doesn't really know about the lawsuit (he even asked a question about it). Although, he was sorry for what happened and for the people that were not part of it.

He was also asked if he had a part in Zexal, which he said, as of the moment, no. I'm guessing 4Kids hasn't started or is in the process of getting parts, since Greg Abbey confirmed there are multiple call backs for parts.

There is also a Sunday session, which someone else might ask about 5D's or something, but she said she it might be a little while. If there's anything new in that one, I'll keep you posted. ;)

I wouldn't mind seeing something like that. Since they don't have to sub Sonic X anymore, it would be kind of nice to see them upload more subbed episodes of 5D's, as well as possibly start up with GX, as long as they hold the license to the franchise.

I'm not sure about that. It would seem pretty foolish for 4Kids to not dub those twelve episodes and then continue on for a few more episodes. As far as I know, the production numbers for the episodes didn't stay the same, so they probably did dub those episodes. I still think that they could have uploaded 111 by mistake since they went back to uploading episodes from the Dark Signer arc. Either that or they're trying to sub more episodes now, but it would seem odd that they'd start at the first episode that was skipped in the broadcast instead of going in order.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case since they probably do want to get Zexal on the air as soon as possible.

I'm not too surprised that he doesn't know much about the lawsuit. I'd imagine that he and other voice actors that work frequently at 4Kids are at least aware of their legal situation, but probably don't know much about the details. If 4Kids wants to have the show air in the fall like they mentioned in a press-release statement, then I think that they're, possibly struggling, to get it organized with hiring various voice actors and actresses and setting up those call backs. Plus, even if Dan Green had a part in Zexal, he might not be allowed to mention it until he was given permission to announce it.

Just because they didn't skip production numbers for 5D's doesn't mean they didn't skip those episodes. For example, look at Magical DoReMi. They never dubbed episode 30, and the production code reflects that. It jumps from 129 to 131.

True, but they did skip many episodes of One Piece and the code only jumped twice. And in Magical DoReMi's case, they reordered some episodes and the production code matches the dub.

EDIT: Episode 112 is now on Hulu subbed.

I'm sure he knows all about the lawsuit or is at least more aware of it that he leads on to be but just decided to take a professional approach and not discuss it any further. Responses like that remind me a lot of athletes when their contract is about to expire with their team and they dance around the question as to whether or not they will be returning to their respective team, but I can't blame him.

Cool video though, thanks for posting it.

Yeah, looks like they really didn't dub 111-122 of 5D's after all.

At least putting them up subbed kind of makes up for it...and it gives me hope that they'll put up 138-154 subbed when the time comes, too. It's a bummer but it's looking like they'll get the whole series out in subtitled form at least.

It unfortunately sounds like that based on the wording for these announcements. It still sounds like an incredibly stupid decision to skip twelve episodes all together and then continue on with the series for a little while longer. I know that they did that with One Piece, but I thought that they would do something like that again after how that dub turned out. The fact that apparently want to shorten the storyline just seems lazy, especially when they could just upload those episodes dubbed their website like they did with those skipped episodes in the Dark Signer arc. This also makes me hope that some other company is able to take the license and actually treat the franchise with more respect than that. Though, at least they are acknowledging that these episodes are there and are doing something with them, unlike with the fourth season of GX. Plus, the idea of having the entire series subbed does sound pretty cool and that would be kind of better than just leaving 5D's with another incomplete dub like they did with GX.

Yeah, then that would definately have been an affiliate thing because where I live I have seen absolutely nothing from 4Kids in the way of advertising aside from within their own 5 hours that they have on Saturday morning, I wish more affiliates would do this to help promote Toonzai.

They aired it in the overnight hours? Jeesh, it's like San Antonio's affiliate.

No, I actually like finding this stuff out. It interests me just how different the affiliates air the block.

Although, many times, it makes me upset that they dump it to the worst times of the day.

Fairy tail would be a decent pick up for them in that regard, and I've heard several people mention it would probably work for them. The anime version of the series has no blood whatsoever, and the only thing that would ahve to be edited for broadcast is the fanservice, which frankly I wouldn't be too broken up about. While it would probably be better if 4 Kids aired it through a third party, there are two reasons. I feel that shouldn't be the case. Mainly being:

- They'd only have the broadcasting rights, and their in desperate need to merchandise the crap out of their next big hit. It'd be better for them from that standpoint to acquire it themselves.

- There's no guarantee the other companies, would make a grab at the title. Both Funimation and Viz, the only other companies still consistently dubbing, seem to have more or less given up at marketing anime towards kids. Their going soley for the teen/young adult audience now. There are a few non-toyetic shows that could be marketed towards kids that they could pick up, and make a fair profit off of, but they more or less seem disinterested in that. Naruto and DBZ are the only anime not on Toonzai being marketed towards kids, and the reason is soley because their Naruto and DBZ. My main point being: I wouldn't count on 4 Kids getting any third-party titles anytime soon.

That's a good point about the size of California and I recall not having any trouble watching those two Pokemon movies in their limited releases, so I'm pretty sure that they'll get a theater closer to my area to play the movie. I did check the ones so far and unfortunately most of the are around the LA area, which would be an incredibly long drive and not worth an hour movie. There was one that might work if all else fails, but hopefully one of my local theaters will be airing the movie.

I forgot about the DVD release for this movie. That should be cool and hopefully, they'll make some announcement about that after the movie finishes its limited releases run.

Not exactly, but Toonzaki confirmed that Magi-Nation will be replacing both airings of Cubix that day, and also that new episodes of 5D?s and Kai will begin.

I know that my mom and dad were talking about that Saturday Morning cartoons started at 5:00am and ended near 1:00pm. I'm not even lying. Kids these days? Damn. Not only that. But,the Internet, DVD, Blu-Ray, and other things took over and make it down as possible. I wish that Saturday Morning cartoons started that early with no bad shows possbile, but atlas that will never happen. FOX Kids had it in the 90's to the very, very 2000's, before 4KidsTV took over. What are you talking about?

Still dragging their feet over at Toonzai aren't they? Taichi Chasers has been a long time coming. I remember people used to speculate if the MIPCOM (I think it was that trade show) listed date for availability was only for foreign markets. Seems like it was actually for the US market as well.
