4Kids Talkback: The Crossroads of Destiny - The 4Kids Discussion V10

While I would like to see the ratings for 5D's improve, I sadly doubt that will happen even with new episodes. Even with new episodes, the ratings rarely go over a 0.8, which as other pointed out is a shame since the dub has generally improved, has a bit of a darker tone than GX did and 4Kids has been promoting the show with a ton of ads for years. I don't think it's catching on with the target audience. Though, they seem to enjoy the original DM series, despite being a much older series. I'm not even sure if Zexal will do better, especially since there's little information regarding the series in general.

I'm not sure if the original Yu-Gi-Oh! is holding the block back, especially since it has done pretty well and even better than 5D's. Plus, I have a feeling that they'll keep the DM dub on their block at least until the anniversary movie finishes its run in theaters. It would be kind of cool if they had one episode from each of the Yu-Gi-Oh! series at some point on the block to promote the movie, but I could see how that could be a bit too much Yu-Gi-Oh! for Toonzai.

These ratings look really nice. Sonic X continues to dominate the block and even though I've seen these kind of ratings for the show before, I'm still kind of surprised that kids really like seeing these reruns this much. Both Yu-Gi-Oh! DM and DBZ Kai are doing quite nicely too. As for the E/I requirement show issue, I agree with mumbo that there isn't a solution to the problem. I don't recall the 7:00AM hour having better ratings with shows like Winx Club or Gogoriki. While I wouldn't mind them airing a show like Gogoriki, even though I'm not sure if they even have the rights to it anymore, I doubt that it would help the block's ratings.

Lets not right off Yu-Gi-Oh! yet. They might still be able to air it until the courts render their decision.

As for the schedule possibility, there are 13 episodes of Rollbots unaired in the US and there are 14 episodes of Magi-Nation that have only aired on This TV. DoReMi has 25 unaired episodes. It would certainly bring newness to the schedule, but it would probably also cause a ratings crash. 2 hours of Sonic X is very likely considering they have gone that route before.

Its always disappoints me when I hear about these blocks being preempted or parts them being cut off. If I remember correctly there were plenty of FOX affiliates that were preempting the block or moving it to some really crappy time slots. Although I cant say I've ever seen my affiliates do this.

I just don't understand how these affiliates get away with doing it, doesn't 4Kids pay for these time slots? Its just wrong and disrespectful to me.

Since the beginning of the previous of the 4Kids thread, 4Kids Entertainment has unveiled two brand new operations. First, on August 14th, they rebranded The CW4Kids into Toonzai, an all-anime block with Dragon Ball Z Kai as their newest show. Then, on September 15th, they launched Toonzaki, a website dedicated to all sorts of anime, including uncut, subtitled versions of Sonic X and Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D?s. Now, everything is in place and the rest is up to fate. Will Toonzai or Toonzaki catch on, or will they ultimately fail, taking down 4Kids with them? Welcome to the crossroads of destiny.

Actually, as powergate92 already mentioned, these ratings were for the weekend of January 15th, not last weekend. So the MLK weekend had nothing to do with the turnout for these shows. It's hard to say what could have made the ratings like this since there are a lot of factors that could contribute to it.

I'm not sure if 4Kids does anything with Gogoriki anymore. They haven't done anything after it was taken off the the block and I don't think that it would do that much better than Cubix, although I think I'd enjoy it more. Dinosaur King might be able to pass as an E/I show, but I don't know if they'd do that since they never used it to fulfill that requirement before. As for 5D's, the time it airs, the fact that the episodes were repeats and other shows that other blocks air might contribute to its poor ratings. It doesn't have a history of strong ratings on the block to begin with either.

I'm not talking about right now, but they have been floating inbetween premiers and reruns since Toonzai has taken to the airwaves, there is NO consistancy and hasn't been since the block was reformed (and before hand). I know the company is trying to get new shows, but they either need to get it done soon before it's too late because the water is rising and there isn't enough buckets to bail them out for much longer.

I'm actually curious if Michael Goldstein will be the voice for the whole conference call as well. Even though this is on a day where I don't have work, but have a mid-day class, I'll probably try to listen to it after class.

I'm really happy to see that they're still airing new episodes of 5D's. Back when the news about the lawsuit came up, I really wasn't expecting them to continue airing the series for another week, let alone a whole month. Hopefully, this does give them a chance to finish dubbing and airing the rest of 5D's. It still doesn't look too likely that they'll acquire Zexal, so it would be nice to see them complete one more Yu-Gi-Oh! series before possibly losing the license to the franchise.

I'm not too surprised that they'll go into reruns for DBZ Kai in May. I'm pretty sure that they're almost done with the current arc and they may need to have a break before the next one starts so that they don't catch up too much to the Nicktoons airings.

They'll need to air it before the end of 5D's, but they'll probably air the movie over a 90 minute block with 30 minutes of commercials. It'll be much like today but with commercials after every 15 minutes or so spread out over the 90 minutes.

Oh Ok So it is a Japan voice actor issue opps Sorry and I am glad that it will be Renewed in Japan, which means America will have it on the cw in about 2 years or I am wrong about that too..

I read on wikipedia.com.

Is it too much to ask 4 kids to all of the Yu-gi-oh DM,G/X, & 5d 's plus the two or three moives (uncut) all on dvd at some point So I can go and buy it and watch it all at in few months.. Because it is a very good series, But what do I know I am just a fan.

Dinosaur King doesn't meet e/i requirements. The only shows 4Kids has that meet e/i requirements are Cubix, Magical DoReMi, and GoGoRiki (because they lost Winx Club which was their big e/i boost). They could go the route they have done before and acquire older e/i shows to air (they did so with Stargate Infinity and Back to the Future), but chances are they won't because they have Penelope that will meet e/i requirements. Frankly though the reason Cubix and all shows in that first hour do poorly is because of the time they air at. No show that 4Kids or CW has aired in that block has gotten better than a .8 since they changed it from Kids WB! As for Magi-Nation, 4Kids no longer has access to it. Cookie Jar has full broadcasting rights of it once more, which is why they are airing it 6 days a week on This TV.

Just got in some new information and the schedule stays the SAME throughout the entire month of April. The recent lawsuit will not have any effect on the schedule for the foreseeable future.

Premieres of Dragon Ball Z Kai (new to broadcast) and Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's continue. For whatever reason, the schedule for the Magi-Nation episodes is erratic and skips around and goes back (113, 114, 116, 118, 102, 121, etc.). The titles for the final two weeks haven't been revealed yet.

It probably is too much to ask frankly. 4Kids doesn't have a DVD distribution line of their own, and good luck finding an outside distributor to commit to 400+ episodes' worth of material after FUNimation dropped the line for poor sales.
