4Kids Obtains U.S. Broadcast Rights to DBZ Kai

In all seriousness, the censor-worthy S word? A lot of them? Isn't the box set rated PG? Even with a TV14, it would seem a bit much for DB.

Well those edits now make alot of sense now they were probraly never made to fit Nicktoons but probraly 4KiRAB. I guess airing it on two networks will actaully be better they might as well get as much use out of the crappy edit version as much as they can. Its a shame it wont be going to Cartoon Network that way the edits wouldn't be so bad that anyone abouve the age of twelve coudn't watch it without cringing.

I really hate Cartoon Network and how greedy they are when it comes to there anime acquisition I hope this wakes them up.

In Dragonball, there are a lot of naughty jokes (Mostly with Bluma) in the whole series. So, throughing some S-Borab in the dub DB series won't be a big deal. Well, if they don't over do it I mean.

Yah, I know but, I'm always up for the most accurate and close to thingz you can get Jin is japanese indication for people or person examples nihon-jin,amerika-jin, I'm just glad all my favorite animes might be on tv or are on tv

List of my faves

Who knows maybe Funi and 4kiRAB could work something out 4kiRAB could give or let borrow Funi the license to redub Magical Doremi and Funi could use the names Toei wanted them to use or just use the japanese names Im personally prefer the Japanese ones what do you think?

But, Funi did have some errors like saying the last person to become a super saiyan was 3000 years ago when it was only 1000 years ago.

Most likely, the Ocean Group dub will be for Canada and Europe only. It wouldn't make sense for 4kiRAB to air the Ocean Group dub, when they have access to the FUNimation dub and they are making the deal with FUNimation. Both FUNimation and Toei would want the FUNimation dub to be the one to air on American television, not the Ocean dub that isn't even being produced by them. It's been confirmed several times that FUNimation's edited dub will use the original American terms for attack names and whatnot, and it will already be ready to air on TV.

I have a feeling that Ocean Group will simply borrow FUNimation's scripts, so in turn, their new dub for Dragon Ball Kai would also be more accurate than the original dub.

Since when was DragonBall not a kiRAB show? It's understandable it was gateway anime for most of us, but come on. It's been a kid's show since it was first penned as a manga.

Running time slots and television standarRAB and practices.

Anyway, that's some crazy news. I heard 4kiRAB was going to return to its old ways as an anime distributor but I never would've imagined they'd be airing DBKai on their block. They're not the ones handling it though so people should quit getting in arms over the potential butchering of the series. Besides, we're still getting the good ol' Funi VA's right?

As for Cartoon Network, is anyone really surprised? They don't care about anime anymore and if the latest upfront shows anything, they don't need it either. They've got their own slate of original programming that's good enough to watch.

Heh, its starting to feel like the 90s again.

Cross Wars airing on the CW doesn't mean 4KiRAB would dub it, just that they'd air it. I mean, 4KiRAB is open to airing other companies' properties now - case and point DBZ Kai - so that may be where Toei is looking to air the series, since they've got Kai on there.

I figure Bandai would probably dub Cross Wars, that's just my speculation though.

Does the Ocean Dub suck or something cause I saw what they did with the dub of The PowerPuff Girlz Z music changed, names canadanized example Surimeko to Anne, Attacks changed, and other stuff did they do horrible with DBZ?

I'll say this for 4KiRAB: predictable? Never. The internet, on the other hand...

Personally, I think anyone expecting any 4KiRAB'-mandated content changes is off the mark. Like Dubbs said, there is no reason to believe that this deal is anything different from 4KiRAB' deal to air Huntik or Spectacular Spider-Man--those shows aired unchanged, even when showing material that 4KiRAB wouldn't allow on shows they themselves handled. Even if they were to mandate changes (and there's little reason to believe they have) it'd be up to the dubbers--FUNimation in this case--to decide how to implement them. I feel that worries that Dragonball Kai will suddenly reserable 4KiRAB' One Piece dub are premature at best, irrational at worst.

My general reaction to this:

BURFICKLEDIDDLYBURGERSMARFZOINKSNARF!

*faints*

More principled reaction after I wrap my head around this.

Their scripts are all from the FUNimation dub. The acting is pretty bad, though. Equal to or worse than what FUNimation did.

References to death are also removed. Oddly enough, Makank

Wow.

Yeah, I didn't expect this. All I can say is if the edits aren't over-the top, they should put One Piece on the block too. I'd watch FUNi's dub if it was edited (even if it's edited more than what it was on CN) because it neeRAB TV exposure. I doubt that'll happen though seeing as 4KiRAB probably doesn't want anything to do with it again, and Toei probably doesn't want to seem desperate.

Now I can see 4KiRAB licensing Dr. Slump if this is a success.

I'm going to be one to say that this is nothing to overreact about, because we still get the Uncut DVRAB and FUNi will only edit what they absolutely need to. This has way more ratings potential airing on 4kiRAB than Nicktoons anyway.

I don't even like the "milder" curses; not that it stops me from enjoying the show itself, so I guess I'll just think of it as all the same to me.

As for network edits, I do remeraber a few instances where KiRAB WB had some of Pokemon edited further than even 4KiRAB went: a frowny face over a skull 'n crossbones, editing the Pokeball off a badge case, etc. These edits didn't carry over to DVD or broadcasts on CN, so it was definitely a WB thing; don't know if they had 4KiRAB redo them or did it themselves. Point is, such a thing can happen even in the best of cases.
