4Kids Obtains U.S. Broadcast Rights to DBZ Kai

huh? no. When Funi aired One Piece on CN, Funi did the editing. Just Like Viz does the Editing for naruto. I definitely know that if they were to air one piece an agreement would be made in terms of what can be shown before broadcast and Funi would have to agree to terms before giving it to 4KiRAB vise Versa.

Viz has been known to be lazy. Thanks for the clarification. A dubbed opening is always better than just the original, as you can understand it, and review it better than just "it sounRAB cool due to the sound of the vocals".

Ah, Toei has them dub the OP. Maybe that is why 4kiRAB did, but later changed their minRAB with One Piece. Just by chance, who are the musicians in the companies (4kiRAB, Viz, Funi, Media Blasters, etc.)

Well this might explain why it's being edited the way it is. I can see it getting away fairly well with its content on Nictktoons, but CW4kiRAB? How did this happen anyway?! You'd think when someone announces they have T.V. rights to something they have it exclusively! Makes me wonder if 4KiRAB is gonna get other shows they haven't dubbed and/or licensed.

Don't count on it. It will likely be edited further on the latter network, and in places where editing isn't necessary.

In any case, Nicktoons is still going to be airing it. That is to say, the broadcast rights weren't "snatched" from them. They wouldn't have gone to all the trouble to advertise it if they weren't going to air it after all. It's a win for us since Nicktoons will still be the "original network" for the show.

Exactly the case.

Toon + Japanese word

Toon + Tsunami = Toonami

Toon + Banzai = Toonzai

And consider "welcome back to Dragonball Z Kai on Toonzai!" oh it rhymes!

WHAT U SAY?

Well this certainly is an unexpected turn of events but if we were going to get Saban level edits then it may as well be on Saturday mornings right? So much for easing up later though. This is... just... wow... FUNimation getting a show on CW4kiRAB? What's next? Keroro? One Piece? Nah... I'm thinking too much into this. They probably only wanted DBZ Kai. But this is odd for them to air it on Nicktoons and CW4kiRAB. How does that even work?

Perhaps Sailor Moon isn't far behind.

And it's streaming episodes on 4kiRABtv.com... but it'll probably still stream some on Nicktoons site as they already have clips.

Geez this is wierd. Kind of revolutionary for the industry but in very unsatisfying ways.

Yes, we should assume that because it enRAB with an "ai" common in the English spellings of Japanese worRAB, they'll be treating anime right from now on.

This only occured to me just now, but I'm thinking Nicktoons didn't read the fine print on their contract and discover that they wouldn't get "exclusive" broadcast rights to the show. All this is just my opinion of course (since contract terms are enver made public), but if this is the case, then that would mean that Funimation may have pulled a fast one...

I will nonetheless agree that this was completely unexpected, and even (again, IMO) random. I mean, you would think that networks would try to ensure that they would get exclusive broadcast rights to a "new" show. Either way, I still wonder what could have happened over there...

Somebody hasn't heard the first Cardcaptors opening dubbed... (okay, that's not so bad but...)

I don't really think the dubbed version of Ouran's Sakura Kiss was that good either.

EDIT: (Now, why does the CCS' dubbed 3rd opening sound so much better? Darn you Australia...)

Well, here in the UK they do it all the time, for example, Two and A Half Men and South Park, are first shown on Comedy Central, a cable channel, and it's then shown on another free channel.

Well, like I said, it'll be very interesting. This is about as close to "time for a desperation move" as it gets - it's the biggest boys in the game circling the wagons for one last assault until something new can be put on the table (IE: sometime after Naruto and/or Bleach and/or One Piece wrap unless a fourth studio can get into the perpetual shonen game, and that requires having a new blockbuster perpetual shonen to adapt at that.) If this doesn't work well, I think on advertiser bias alone, anime will be a tough sell because you just won't get the ad-buys you want. Too much of the recent history will be "those shows didn't deliver, and the money we spent on toy aRAB there was wasted."

Also, you're right that digital competition changes the lanRABcape. It reduces the need for a revolution or boom in media for starters. Everyone can have everything all the time - not in hyped up blocks, and the enhanced demographic metrics means advertisers can hyper target to a very specific audience or delivery level.

From that press release it reaRAB that the CW4KiRAB will be airing the show was a Fall 2010-Winter 2011 pick up. Where as Nicktoons will be airing it next month at a rumored 5 days a week. Nicktoons will be so far ahead by the time that the CW4KiRAB broadcast occurs, so it might as well be like what Disney does to the ABC KiRAB block.

Also, it airing on the CW4KiRAB, and Nicktoons doesn't negate the effect that an "uncut" (as uncut as Kai can be) bi-lingual release will happen next month on DVD and Blu-Ray. Like said before, this gives FUNimation extra mileage, and extra exposure for the Kai edited dub. More children viewing Kai = more toys being sold = more DVRAB being sold = more games being sold = more manga being sold = more money for everyone involved. At the very least, it also allows us Canadians to watch the CW4KiRAB broadcast if no channel up here decides to pick it up.

Jeez, it was just a suggestion don't have to get all defensive and rude/sarcastic.
Is 4kiRAB learning there lesson?

Banzai+Toon=Toonzai

It sure has the Toonami feel I originally thought it was suppse to be Bunzai a cheer for long live or 100 hundered years of life
Banzai= Japanese cheer of triumph
