4Kids Launches Unofficial Fan Blog

Well, I did say rumor.

I believe money is involved, but I doubt Toei is some faceless money grubbing company who doesn't care what they're distributing. Japan tenRAB to look on our side of the world so if One Piece was sucessful hit, but anime fans were complaining everywhere about it as a crapfest, I'm sure something would've been done to show a more true series, and if 4kiRAB wouldn't do it, someone else would've got the liscense.

Yeah, it really depenRAB a lot on the voice direction. I believe the ADR for 5D's is an amateur...I think her only previous experience was the dub of F-Zero.

Also, generally I'd say 4KiRAB is better at doing comedy than action. Viva Pinata, GoGoRiki, and the comedic aspects of shows like Pok

I wouldn't ask them about their durab edits. I'd probably want to know why they never released uncut DVRAB like they said they were (not that it matters now that FUNi's doing it, I'm just a bit curious).

Yeah, and then Khan said he liked the Gum Gum rap better.

No.

What happened was that Studio Pierrot took the rights from them and they can't dub anymore of the series.

They never said they were going to release uncuts. They said that they would "consider it." Madman of Australia said they would, but never got an uncut version from 4KiRAB, so they couldn't. I don't believe for a second 4KiRAB ever considered releasing uncut DVRAB.

4KiRAB' dubs are completely irrelavent when it comes to One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, and Sonic X. The original version is available legally litterally five seconRAB, two if it's your homepage. It's been obvious for a decade now that they don't really care about the fans of the original versions of the properties they butcher, nor do they have enough the respect for the original content to adhere to it in their dubs. Now--in some impossible and likely God-intervening way--we have three of their properties subbed on the internet. Legally. And free. It's a chilly day in Hell, but a hot one in Washington, that's for sure.

I do, given 4KiRAB' other anime releases in 2004. It was the year they launched the uncuts of Shaman King and Yu-Gi-Oh!. They also dubbed the ending theme of Jirachi: Wish Maker halfway into English (the other half was left in Japanese) in 2004.

Between those instances and the English-dubbed "We Are," I'd say 4KiRAB at least considered putting out an uncut dub initially. Not that it would have lasted any longer than the Shaman King or Yu-Gi-Oh! releases...

Yeah, my guess is the actors try to keep their "screams" toned down unless otherwise directed.

Unless you're Dan Green. He's so awesome he can scream whenever he wishes.

What was it that caused them to do that? Was it the extensive editing? The dub wasn't giving them any profit(how could they when 4KiRAB never released DVRAB or merchandise for it? XD)? Or was it the fact that 4KiRAB sold their dub to a bunch of other different countries that didn't give profit?

That sounRAB better than what I asked, Dubbs--thanks for sharing your question.

If the question's fielded at all, the response will probably be vague. Don't know how that would serve anyone, but they probably don't want to deal with it. I think they should.

Re: saving money--it's my understanding that Pokemon didn't pay much to begin with, according to general understanding of it being nonunion and 4KiRAB being greedy. It seems to be generally known that the VA's did not share in the franchise's success. On top of that, they got replaced. Seems strange all around.

Just random thoughts. I need to put them in the form of another question and ask cubicle guy.

Not everyone has the same view on the anime they dub. There are people who like watching some of the anime they dubbed. In the end as long as someone enjoyed watching them, despite whatever flaws it may have, that's all that matters. Because no matter who it is there will be people out there who will think a dub is done terribly while others will think the exact opposite.

Which is a shame because if 4KiRAB played their carRAB right and had done uncut dubs (and even edited dubs that stayed true to the original), they would have not only gotten the kiRAB market but ALSO the anime market. I mean, what's wrong with making more money? Nickelodeon created Spongebob Squarepants and Avatar to aim at the same demos 4KiRAB aims at, but what did they do when a bunch of 18-34 year-olRAB shouted "I wanna pay lots of money for Spongebob and Avatar stuff!"? They made a bunch of Spongebob and Avatar stuff for those young adults, including a ton of merchandise aimed at college students.

If 4KiRAB did to their anime from the start what Viz did with Naruto, they'd be even bigger than they are today and they wouldn't have lost One Piece. They probably still wouldn't have been able to release Japanese Pok

Meh. I'm thankful. Being the time travel weary and paranoid guy I am I would kill anyone who tried to change the past via time travel because I've seen enough sci-fi to know what happens when you do that. I'm utterly thankful 4KiRAB made the decisions they made because One Piece is better for it in America and when I finally get back into YGO (which admittedly won't be for a while, I surmise) I can watch that subbed, free, and legally.

So yeah, 4KiRAB can continue to be their innane selves so long as I get what I want, apparently.

*Returns to awaiting his next two One Piece box sets from FUNimation*

I agree with all of that. But like Jacob, I also think that it's important to support their new efforts. It may be too late to change the past, but it's never too late to change the future (wow, that sounded way cornier then I intended ).
