My almost 4 yr old daughter was complaining that when she peed, it was "hot". So I took her to the pedi to check for UTI. Our pedi was out so a diff doc saw us. that same doc called me back 2day to let me know the culture was positive for group b strep. she said that isn't common with little girls so they wanted her to come in monday so they could re-check it and take another sample. She said she wasn't sure if they tested wrong or what but that she wanted to do another culture. Well, she didn't give me much more than that and now I am freaking out wondering WHY my 4 yr old would have Group b Strep. Thats what they tested me for when I was pregnant with her. (which was - btw). im just so confused. HELP!?!
I did not have GBS while pregnant with either of my girls.

because people get sick.

since you had group b strep with her, she could be a carrier of the strepicocci bacteria and it's worse when they actually get the strep.

I'm a carrier, so is my brother, but i'm also allergic to all the medicines on the market for strep. Sometimes doctors get a false positive so that could have happened too.

They want to retest to see if the sample was contaminated or she really does have it. Don't worry until you know one way or the other. Ask the doctor when you go in what it could mean if she does have it.
