300 watt Amplifier and 125 x 2 watt subs, bad idea?

Just bought a 300 watt amp, im going to run it at 300watts x 1 2ohms for my parrellel 125 watt subs. Two 125 subs is 275watts and i have a 300 watt amp. Is this a bad thing? Cant i just turn the gain down which would cause the amp to not blow the subs? Or did i make a big mistake
300 watt RMS amp its a MTX Thunder 300 xd
 
I don't think is a bad Idea, however if the subs are good brand and you know what I am talking about. But make sure that when you install the system the rms volume of the amp is low and then when you turn on the music, put it up little by little until you see is enough. Capacitor is always a good idea and bass bypass. Good luck and make sure to install the system properly to not cause damage to the amp.
 
You should be ok to output more RMS power from your amp than your subs(or speakers) are rated at given the following:

1. You keep the volume reasonable, ie dont crank it ALL the way up ALL the time
2. Turn down the volume if/when you hear any distortion

Follow those guidelines and you can utilize an amp safely with your subs and not worry much at all about blowing them. In this particular case each sub would receive about 150watts which is barely over there RMS of 125, just be aware of the sound volume and you shouldnt ever have a problem.
