3.5 - 3.7" Andriod Phones?

Hi,

I currently have a iphone 3g and having been wanting to move to a Andriod phone for some time now. I have checked out the recently launched phones like the driod X and evo 4g but I feel they are just too big for a phone in my opinion. I was looking for a handset in the size range of 3.5" to 3.7".

In this size range, i can just find 2 good phones which are the Nexus One and Droid Incredible. Nexus One is almost shelved so I am left only with the Droid Incredible. I do not mind waiting for a handset that is expected in the near future (2-3 months) with this screen size. Is there any phone that is expected to arrive shortly?

Any other worthy handset that i missed looking at?

Appreciate any inputs

I think the 4 inch screen is the sweet spot. I currently have and use the Samsung Captivate and love it! The screen i amazing as is the processor. The only negative I have is no flash, but since you are using a iPhone 3G its not different except the Captivate has a 5 mp camera. Ive had the Nexus One and Im not really impressed with it. Just my 2 cents. Hope I helped.

Tmobile G2 has a 3.7 (coming out Sept.29), I have a Nexus 1, and a Samsung Vibrant it has the 4" screen, the 4" screen is probably the best size, however my everyday phone is the Nexus 1! my $0.02

Just go to any AT&T store. They have an actual unit you can toy around with. You wont be disapointed, believe me, I have had ALL the iPhones and am definately not missing it.

Yeah the 4" is nice. As far as 3.7" goes there's the droid also. And 3.5? I don't know of any. I think android screens jump from 3.2" to 3.7

You can see the Samsung Galaxy S phones (Captivate or Vibrant) at AT&T or TMobile. The G2 is a 3.7in screen coming out Sept 29 on TMobile. it has a keyboard. I would expand your time line a little. There should be a lot of new phones before Christmas. We might even get lucky & have Gingerbread on a phone by Christmas. I'm waiting till Christmas to upgrade.

Whoa, the norm is 3.2" on the majority of phones out there, THAT's a bit small. I'm comfortable at around 3.7" though 3.5" is probably the minimum I'd take, 4" and bigger can get huge and encumbering when carrying it around.

My Quench is 3.2" and at times especially when typing on the virtual keyboard and I wish it was larger, I'm getting me a Desire soon anyways.

The N1 still can be bought through an t-mobile affiliate. Plus first to get any updates. It'll always be ahead of the curve for a good while. I have the unlock version (2 of them). Many keep asking, "where to get one, they are under the impression that it's (discontinued).

Completely agree... I have HD2 with 4.3 inches and find it just perfect for me - but it is not for most of people who ant bigger screen... 4" is simply the best as 3.7" was bit too small for me - again, it was small in MY opinion

Yeah 4" is sweet. +1 for the Samsung Galaxy S range too (Vibrant, Captivate, etc).

One phone you didn't consider is the HTC Desire. It's the same as the Nexus One only with minor HTC customisations (Sense UI) - same hardware though other than an optical trackball and a few K more memory.

In real terms - the Samsung 4" phones are only 0.2" higher and 0.1" wider than your iPhone because they have less of a border. Is that really such a big difference?

I don't even bother mentioning the my touch slide :/ 3.7 would be fine if it were a bit wider rather than taller. But since its not, I honestly find the galaxy s phones and the evo to be awesome. Still think the n1 is the nicest built phone so far though. Its just so nice looking

I don't know why people think the 4.3 screens are "wider" than 3.7. Physically they are by default of being larger but in actuality the Droid X or any Moto phone is 858x480 resolution compared to HTC and their 800x480. That means the HTC has a wider aspect ratio than the Motorola phones...

I have a Vibrant with a 4" screen and in no way would I consider it too big. If anything after upgrading from a G1 to a Vibrant, I realized a 4.3 inch screen or bigger isn't actually ridiculous. It's so light and thin you hardly notice it, wouldn't go 4 inch or less again.

Because they are physically 'wider.' Ever played what the doodle on a 3.7" screen? It'd be a lot easier on a screen where your thumb has more space to travel. Same with the virtual keyboard while in portrait mode

Yeah I agree with nateap87 - the context is holding the phone in your hand and being able to reach the entire screen with just your thumb on the same hand. The actual physical size of the screen is what is important here, as opposed to the aspect ratio.

If phones get any bigger than 4.5" I don't think I'll want one. I want to be able to hold my phone without worry of dropping it. Also, if it gets any bigger then is it a phone first anymore? Can You call it a tablet!?

Agreed. I saw a pic of some guy talking on the dell streak (5" screen) and it looked down right stupid.
