2011 Sedona Orange Remorse?

I have black and I agree that is not the easiest color to keep clean. And it is classy and timeless. If you are second guessing yourself now, I would give it some good thought. You could get black and add some orange to it and be original.

I bought black Harleys in '78 and '04, not because I'm really partial to black but because I didn't like the other colors that were offered. I don't care about swirl marks and minor scratches on my bikes - they just happen.

I've been building, racing, and showing cars for many years, so I'm extremely meticulous and picky when it comes to the finish on my vehicles. The Vivid Black is not as bad as it's made out to be. I live and ride in Alaska, and I guarantee that most riders here don't have to deal with the dust, dirt, tar, and "construction muck" that Alaska riders have to deal with. If I can keep a Vivid Black bike in showroom condition in Alaska, most anybody can. Those Dudes with the major swirls and stuff are doing something wrong. As long as the bike is wet and washed with a decent quality car soap (Miguires/Mothers), a clean soft cloth, and preferebly in the shade ...it wont swirl the paint. Keeping a solid coat of wax on it goes a long way in preventing swirls too. I use Meguires NXT Synthetic wax, but again, any quality polish and wax will work. Never "dry wipe" the bike no matter how bad you feel the need to get the dust, water spots, or bugs off. And by the way... the 50/50 Hydogen Peroxide/Water mix removes bugs better than anything!

So yeah, the Vivid Black takes a little more concious effort to keep it mint. But it's well worth it. A black on Black, or Black and Chrome Bagger is hard to beat for looks and "Classic Harley attitude". The Sedona Orange is nice, although I think it looks better in a good picture than it does in person. I'm also a huge fan of the Red Hot Sunglo from previous years, which looks better in person than in pictures. I guess in the end, if your a guy that plans on keeping you bike spotless (like I do), then going Black is not a big deal. But if your not planning on putting in some time with the hose and bucket of soap ...don't buy Black.

You have the right attitude if you have a black bike. I am slowly getting over my need for a "perfect paint job" and find that I am enjoying my bike a whole lot more sense I got a few dings and chips in the paint. (still looks good at 80 MPH though!)

I have black and would not think twice about the orange ..... what would go with that color is black chrome ... Wheels , parts , even bars , you think black and chrome have it if somebody had orange and black chrome you will have one sick combination .....

I have a black RGC. Now that I've seen the orange. I would have bought it had they offered it.... talk about remorse... that thing is beautiful.

eye -> beholder thing, yeah I know.

I think the orange looks better in person than in the photo. It seems like I need to take the weekend and think it over hard. I have until Tuesday to order the bike or it wont get here until December. Great comments from everyone, there are pros and cons to all truly important decisions!
