I've been building, racing, and showing cars for many years, so I'm extremely meticulous and picky when it comes to the finish on my vehicles. The Vivid Black is not as bad as it's made out to be. I live and ride in Alaska, and I guarantee that most riders here don't have to deal with the dust, dirt, tar, and "construction muck" that Alaska riders have to deal with. If I can keep a Vivid Black bike in showroom condition in Alaska, most anybody can. Those Dudes with the major swirls and stuff are doing something wrong. As long as the bike is wet and washed with a decent quality car soap (Miguires/Mothers), a clean soft cloth, and preferebly in the shade ...it wont swirl the paint. Keeping a solid coat of wax on it goes a long way in preventing swirls too. I use Meguires NXT Synthetic wax, but again, any quality polish and wax will work. Never "dry wipe" the bike no matter how bad you feel the need to get the dust, water spots, or bugs off. And by the way... the 50/50 Hydogen Peroxide/Water mix removes bugs better than anything!
So yeah, the Vivid Black takes a little more concious effort to keep it mint. But it's well worth it. A black on Black, or Black and Chrome Bagger is hard to beat for looks and "Classic Harley attitude". The Sedona Orange is nice, although I think it looks better in a good picture than it does in person. I'm also a huge fan of the Red Hot Sunglo from previous years, which looks better in person than in pictures. I guess in the end, if your a guy that plans on keeping you bike spotless (like I do), then going Black is not a big deal. But if your not planning on putting in some time with the hose and bucket of soap ...don't buy Black.
