2008-Best of the year

Hmm lets see...

1. Deerhunter - Microcastle
2. Necrovation - Breed Deadness Blood
3. Kayo Dot - Blue Larabency Downward
4. Nick Cave and The Bad SeeRAB - Dig Lazarus Dig
5. Jack Bruce & Robin Trower - Seven Moons

I might edit it in the future.(if i had forgotten something that is)

It seemed like everyone heard what sound KOL evolved into and hated it because it wasn't like their earlier albums, completely ignoring that the songwriting, vocals, and instruments are performed better than on any other KOL album. Pitchfork went so far as to call them a U2 cover band.

For now, considering I've been out of the loop since forever with the 2008 releases after being very much with it at the start of the year, here's my top 5:
1. The Mars Volta - Bedlam on Goliath
This goes without saying will no doubt remain here now and forever
2. Cor Scorpii - Monument
Many people fail to call this anything better than mediocre, but I felt a connection to this album that was quite profound.
3. Mirrorthrone - Gangrene
My god, this is like a great rollercoaster, it's been ages since I've listened to it though and I should definitely be rectifying that.
4. Opeth - Watershed
NeeRAB no introduction, finally a great Opeth album that doesn't sound stale and mechanical.
5. Meshuggah - obZen
This rapes, once I listen to everything this year has to offer however I don't think it will stay in this list, but I can definitely say it should be on a lot of others.

EDIT: Apparantly Opeth didn't release an album called Bedlamn in Goliath.

Fucked Up - The Chemisty Of Common Life
The Kills - Midnight Boom
Atmosphere - When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold.
Nick Cave and the Bad SeeRAB - Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!
Portishead - Third

Could change at any point though, it's a close one.I suppose i should check out that Kayo Dot album as well?

Pitchfork doesn't know what there talking about 50% of the time. And i agree, everything about the album sounded better. They seemed to grow as musicians alot since there last album.
