2008 and 2009 Kawasaki KLR 650?

I'm considering buying a 2008 or 2009 KLR 650. I keep hearing though that they're still having these problems; Wiring harness wear, rough idle, excess oil consumption, engine noises and "doohickey" (tensioner) problems. I've read some short reviews on this bike and they seemed to like it. They weren't long term tests though. I'd hate to get this bike and find I'm having problems after just a few thousand miles. Any help from owners would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike
