2007 Golden Globes - Discussion

I haven't seen Blood Diamond but I bet that Djimon Hounsou will probably get an Oscar nod. I thought that Christian Bale should have been nominated when he was Batman but he wasn't.

Evangeline Lilly? Get real.

I hope Helen Mirren wins for The Queen.

No Lauren Graham? Gee, what a shock. Stupid Golden Globes.

Even though I still love Desperate Housewives I figured it wouldn't win so I'm so glad Ugly Betty did!

How are some of these movies nominated that haven't even came out yet? I thought the movies had to be already released to be nominated. I have never understood why so many movies that no one sees always get nominated.

Battlestar Galactica should have been nominated. It's not right that the show gets robbed just because it is science fiction.
House should have been nominated for best drama. Scrubs and My Name is Earl should have been nominated for best comedy. The category of best actor in a comedy series was picked perfectly.

I'm so happy for all the Departed nods. Leo was amazing in it. Mark too.
It's really good that Will Smith got a nod too. He or Leo should win.

I think Beyonce shouldn't be nominated. She is the most overrated artist in the whole bussiness. Jennifer Hudson was better than her but she got the support actress nod because is not that famous.

I'm mad that Christian Bale got snubbed. He is one of the best actors and he did two great movies this year. Other people that should be nominated this year are Djimon Hounsou for Blood Diamond and Ryan Gosling for Half Nelson.

I loved Hugh Laurie's speech! I didn't watch the whole show but I saw some speeches on youtube and I say that Hugh Laurie's was the best followed by Meryl Streep's.

Because Michael Bay is an arrogant ass. This is common knowledge.

The reason he gets jobs is because he can bring films in under budget (ironic) and on time AND they make money at the box office... Even if not in the U.S., but overseas like with 2004's "The Island" which tanked here, but blew up in Europe and Asia.

What people don't like about Michael Bay is what I said above: He is a pompus jerk who thinks he is God's gift to film making when he is not. Also, his attitude toward movie going audiences is they ARE dumb and are nothing but "horny teenagers" (quote from an actual interview) -- Even if the audience for his films fit this label, he doesn't have to be so condescending... Which is where the label of him being an arrogant and pompous jerk come from.

Also, his style is terrible. He uses a lot of cheap parlor tricks to make up for the lack of his actual directing skills which is also why people cap on his films so much because again, it is true.

This years GG's were so bland:rolleyes:

I have a friend who saw The Queen and she said it was good but again I say WHO THE HELL saw The Last Kind of Scotland....I have never even heard of this movie until awards time rolled around.
I had heard of almost every movie, even the indie ones but not that one.

You know what really pisses me off about these awards: It getting annoying how EVERYONE who plays in some biopic movie and expect an Oscar on their mantle.

I'll bet almost every actor who wants is Oscar is researching what REAL LIFE DEAD PERSON they can play in a movie to win a freakin Oscar.

Lucky you jackiehydelover, Id love to go to film school.
Im not a huge fan of collateral, I liked it but it wasnt that good for Jamie to deserve an oscar. I havent seen Ray so I dont know if he deserved his oscar or not, but hes a good actor in my opinion.

I didnt like Reeses dress either, I didnt like any of the dresses worn actually, they were all either weird or boring in my opinion, and your right Reese did look like a banana!

I saw The Hours and Far From Heaven....and it should have been Julianne Moore's.

I saw Titanic and Shakspeare in Love....and it should have been Kate's

I saw Walk the Line and I just saw Transamerica....it should have been Felicity's but they were more into Reese because she's Reese

Speaking of Reese and getting back to the topic. Was anyone else not feeling that banana dress:sick:

She was pulling a "hey I'm single and sexy" and all she looked like was a very skinny banana.

I love Reese but she looks better with fuller hair and not as skinny. She looked great in Sweet Home Alabama. The most ageless. She looks old now

I love The Devil Wears Prada, one of my favorites from last year. I do agree that Meryl should of went supporting, I felt Anne Hathaway's character was the lead and everyone else was supporting. But either way I loved Meryl in this and am glad she won.

Last night was a suprise for me and in some cases not really. I am happy for Jennifer Hudson, Ugly Betty, Helen Mirren, America Ferrera and Martin Scorcese.

I was one of the people pulling for Leonardo DiCaprio to win although with all the praise Forest has been recieving I kind of knew he was going to win.

Eddie Murphy winning was a surprise because I was hoping for Jack Nicholson to win for his role in the Departed.

I like Meryl Streep but I was pulling for Toni Colette to win for Best Actress in a Comedy movie for Little Miss Sunshine.

As for TV, I am not happy that Grey's Anatomy won. I was really hoping for Lost or Heroes to get it since their both really good shows.

I wanted Tony Shaloub to win for Monk.

Who won't remember the year a movie cam out about gay cowboys and go big buzz

The "gay" part is the only thing that will be remembered

I don't like the controversy because that shouldn't make a movie popular or good. I mean what would Brokeback Mountain have been like if the two guys were straight and were just really close friends. It would have gotten no nominations and no awards. I know that might sound mean but that's how movies are these days. No offense to gay cowboys but I thought that Crash was definately more realistic than Brokeback Mountain. And Crash is a movie that I could relate to. Crash should have won for best song. The SAG awards are pretty weak in my opinion. I think the Independent Spirit Awards show is more interesting and less boring than other movie award shows.

Undercover cop movies are usually entertaining and interesting to me.

I'm lucky I have a few theatres that do run indies in my town. But they only run them for about a week and sometimes my schedule doesn't go with theirs, obviously so I miss them

I know The Last King of Scotland is expanding this weekend to 450 theatres. Not sure about the Queen.

I really liked The Devil Wears Prada--award worthy..hmmm...not really sure. Meryl was great--but lead actress great, not so much.

Awww, you.. I always wanted to go to film school. Not to actually make movies, just to see what the "work" part of movies was like... Weird, I know. Plus, I'd be a terrible student so no need to waste anyone's time, and money. :look:
