I have a 01 eclipse. it has the original infinity amp and speakers. i also have subs, but besides the point. My head unit is a pioneer 7800. The head unit was wired in with the Mitah wiring harness using rca's.
One day im listening to a cd and suddenly the sound quality becomes terrible. lots of static and popping noises and at low volume no noise at all but at certain volumes there would be reasonable definition (still bad though) but at a reduced volume. I removed the head unit and reinstalled the factory one. no problems for about two weeks. now I'm getting similar static and popping noises but not nearly as bad as before and they only happen maybe once a day and barely noticeable.
Whats wrong?
my original guess was i blew the factory amp with the higher voltage pre-outs on my aftermarket head unit but it works fine most of the time with the OEM head unit. does anyone have an explanation for this, if they feel its the amp? or any other ideas that would explain the intermittent problems with OEM head unit and terrible problems with aftermarket?
also, im not an idiot, it is wired correctly, and have had the head unit in my car for over 4 years.
THANKS!
