My husband is in AGONY and was finally diagnosed through an MRI he has 2 tears in his labrum, front and back, so we determined it is a "SLAP" injury...now the Dr said it is 6-12 months to see a specialist and even then he said the spec. may not decide to even do surgery! I mean he is not able to do anything, has 2 diagnosed tears and is in severe pain, why would a Dr NOT do surgery???this is appalling as my husband can't even live his life anymore due to pain! our family Dr said the spec. will look at the MRI results and do some other testing and then decide if he needs surgery, is this correct do u know?! i mean one would think that the injury was obvious enough to the MRI team as they didn't even need to place dye in it because they saw the tear right away! Our family Dr said the spec may just tell him to live with it depending on the severity, this is SEVERE! to me this is NOT acceptable we WANT the surgery and it is VERY obvious these are serious tears! My husband is young, 38, we don't know how it happened and he CAN NOT be expected to go the rest of his life suffering and potentially getting addicted to pain killers! he no longer enjoys life, is depressed and can not even lift a bag of groceries...he does not sleep, can not concentrate, he has to go through this only to potentially have NOTHING done but to be told to live with it! Is my family Dr possibly incorrect over what this specialist may or may not do? i do know it is a SEVERE tear...our family Dr is an excellent Dr but obviously this is not his specialty so...i am just at my wits end and don't know what to do or how my husband can even do some form of pain control in the meantime at home other than pills and ice! ANY help would be amazing...he has just been told to take T4's and deal with it! This is actually an extremely painful condition and i am very upset nothing is really being done and no one seems to understand the SEVERE impact it is having on his life!
