2 ohm sub woofer, what ohm amp?

i am planning on buying a 2 ohm sub woofer, would i need to run this @ 2 ohm from the amp or would i be able to wire it at 1 ohm? also if anyone has a wiring diagram that would be useful. thanks in advance
 
If the sub is single voice coil, you should look for an amp that matches the RMS rating of the sub at 2 ohms.

If the sub is dual 2 ohm voice coil you would need to find an amp that matches the RMS at either 1 or 4 ohms. Then, wire the coils appropriately.

This is assuming that you are only using one sub. Let me know how many and what brand and i'll be able to give better info.
 
no no no keep them the same if you were to run it at 1 ohm you would blow the sub in a matter of minutes or seconds also depends on the rms of the sub/amp
