the two 15's are in a 4 cu ft ported box at 400 rms, and the cvr is in 5 cu ft ported and 500 rms?? which will be louder, in a 94 ford explorer

The two 15" Rockford P1's would be louder. They have a total surface area of about 147.894 sq inches where as the single 15 has a surface area of about 73.947 sq inches. The larger surface area will displace more air and you will get more db's. I would get the P1's.

If you are just looking for an answer as to which would be louder than it would be the 2 15's by far. The 2 subs will push more air creating more db's. Even 2 15" subs with a 400 watt amp would be louder than 1 15" sub with a 1000 watt amp. So i hope this helps you out. Go with the 2 15" rockford fosgate p1's if you want lots of bass.
