Women appear on the outskirts of the narratives of male-dominated arts and science from the Renaissance through the Enlightenment, yet the female form and female identity were central themes in art and literature. How did artists and writers in these time periods represent the role of women in society? Discuss how literary and visual artists and thinkers transform the meanings of femininity/womanhood, paying particular attention to the artistic and religious ideals that influenced definitions of the human form.
 
I'm a costume designer. You could try to look out for female silhouettes trough time to find prove how they were considered. It is fun, and it is sometimes hilarious to see how women dressed in order to live up to social standards and how the were considered by men. .
