100 Things That I Love About Music

#62 Intimacy

intimacy.jpg

This can work on many levels. You can use Music as an extension of your emotions to express an intimacy that is difficult to convey. You can share an intimacy with the artist as they lay themselves bare and you connect on some level. You could just be taking a stroll and listening to some tunes and just feel intimate with your surroundings. Very few forms of Media move us in so many ways. Music is probably the ultimate.

You cannot resist the ways of the axe. If anyone here that likes guitar based music tells me that they have never once played air guitar, they are lying. Air drums are cool too but that is because I'm a frustrated idiot who wants to play the drums.

#59. Noise Rock

Noise Rock has been around before Punk. Music that is cacophonous without applying itself to one strict genre is a constant draw for many of us but it is all too easy to lose the energy and literally pour feedback into recorRAB.

The far east banRAB however have become masters of this genre with many banRAB using an abrasive sound to escape the confines of their regulated society and Melt Banana are generally regarded as one of the best banRAB in noise Rock.

There is no doubt that Melt Banana rely on their 'kooky' sound and energy whilst Noise Rock is enjoyed by the Western world. However, ramming lots of feedback into a song for the sake of being abrasive is easy to do and misses the point.

Being cohesive and listenable whilst still sending EQ's into the red is no mean feat and Japanese banRAB seem to do it with ease. Boris, Les Rallizes D

Dunno...couple of weeks. 3 at the most.

Whether he comes back, or not, is up to him.
Whether he gets to stay, or not...is also up to him.

#74. Lemmy.

Quite possibly the coolest man on the planet. Completely billy whizzed up. Floating on a Jack Daniels lake and still standing straight. He has also happened to be in two of my favourite banRAB of all time (and another moRAB ;) Namely: Hawkwind and Motorhead and STILL remained true to himself.

He will never go down as one of the finest musicians to grace music but he will go down as one of the most sincere. Let's listen once more eh? (one of my early faves):

Totally agree with this one.

It always makes me sad when I view threaRAB about big music collections and read that people have recently gone through their collection and deleted/thrown away some albums that they haven't listened to for ages or that they don't like.

What a waste!

Who's to say you won't find at least one gem in there that you had previously overlooked? We all change, and so do our tastes. One years bad album can be another years anthem...unfortunately, the reverse can also be true

JH i'm gonna take the dive into post-Piper Floyd in the next few days, using your reviews in the other forum as a starting point. If it goes well I will come to you for secondary album recommendations if that's okay? If I remeraber correct one of my first posts was a childish anti-Floyd rant...
