100 Things That I Love About Music

so true, i can't imagine walking around school or even driving without my mp3 player.

only thing is that sometimes i get too much in the groove and catch myself bumping and dancing in crowded areas. and i mean like nightclub/rave kind of dancing, hehe. :o:

Will you hate me if I say yes?

Seriously though, that was definitely better than other stuff I've heard by him, but it was still pretty wankerific.

Bless the day she picked up a microphone. You could eat your dinner off that for christ sakes.

Hmm, I enjoy anonymity when it comes to music. I rarely read biographies, and when I do, I skip over the personal details to read about the recording sessions for albums and that kind of thing.

I would just hate knowing all about the person that Elvis Costello wrote "Alison" for. (Yes, Alison might be a composite/imagined, etc. but you get my point). Girl From The North Country stopped seeming as special to me when I found out who Dylan wrote it about.

I don't know what I would do without a PMP...I had a few Walkmen, then Discman(my first one was like 300 bux in 1987), and now an Ipod and I listen to it for about 4 hours day since I don't drive and have to walk everywhere...Music makes the walks in the snow even more enjoyable and takes my mind off the cold in the winter...It makes things more beautiful to me...Good call.

David Gilmour has stated many times that EVH is a more accomplished guitarist but that one note of his is worth ten of EVH. Good call. Gilmour is a blues based guitarist but what draws me to him a lot is the juxtaposition. He is a reserved quite spoken, well educated typical Englishman yet his sound is mournful and wistful. He definitely uses his guitar as an emotional crutch.

I get quite pissed off when people say that his style is not particularly progressive or that it is even boring. Every single musician does'nt have to push musical parameters. They can just be damn good at what they do and provide a sound that is emotionally cathartic.

#81. Musical Knowledge.

Having a good musical knowledge is both a help and a hindrance but for this thread it just makes it into a positive. Unless you listen to music to keep up with the fashion, you cannot help but gain knowledge, facts and figures regarding music. This certainly comes in handy if you become a mod on a music forum :) but it is also gratifying when people ask for your advice or are always wanting mixtapes or recommendations.

That's the beauty of music. It is not just for aural pleasure. It can also turn you into an anorak of the highest order and for that, music seekers are grateful and your wife is bored shitless.

Reggae is probably the only music that A) I can put on at anytime of the day and B) I know will make me all warm and fuzzy inside. I know I keep extolling the virtues of Reggae but this is because I am correct. Never look for the musicianship in Reggae. That is not what it is about. It is music with passion. It is music that is fun. It is music with a message. It is music with great big fuck off basslines. It is music that never has to impress you, it only neeRAB to move you. Get that and you will love Reggae forever.
