100 Greatest Stand-Ups 2010 (Next Friday)

Some strange omissions from the list

Max Miller
Al Read
Norman Evans
Milton Berle (The Thief of Bad Gags)
Phil Silvers

and numerous others (or are they just people who have once appeared on C4 ?)

Tea and Cake, or Death!?!

I am wondering if Harry Hill will be high up because of TV Burp. His standup is different to TV Burp or though over the last few years it has got nearer to what his standup used to be like.

Did Joe Pasquale drop? I've lost track of which number we're on.

I'm 21 and I know Sean from Buzzcocks originally but I made the effort to seek out his old stand up and it is good. You never see much of him now though so he's done well to be on the list at all really.

To be fair, most of the names on that list are comedians that are mainstream, not necessarily reflecting "greatest". I did really enjoy this show back in 2005(?) and have seen it numerous times, I look forward to seeing it again, I just hope that for the people appearing in the list for a second time they have different interviews with people and not just repeated stuff.

Does anybody have any idea where I can see the original programme again? I can't find it on Youtube and it isn't on 4oD. :(

Top Ten

Billy Connolly
Lee Evans
Peter Kay
Eddie Izzard
Michael McIntyre
Bill Bailey
Bill Hicks
Richard Pryor
Jimmy Carr
Chris Rock

In any order

Ahh that's him, the Diceman.
Suffered a minute or so of that, then couldn't be bothered with more, suspect it won't add anything to my life.
I'm guessing the comments sums up his audience nicely, stupid as a box of dirt?

I could see Jimmy Carr or Frankie Boyle doing some of that material and it actually been funny.

John Bishop wasn't on the shortlist for this they put on their website. I don't know if they'll have added him later, be a bit strange if he's not in the 100 given some who will be.

I'd feel like I'd been kicked in the teeth if Billy Connelly was still number one

Franscesca Martinez :D I missed the beginning- I guess she didn't make the list :(

Ricky Gervais can write for sure but as a stand-up he seems lazy and relies on stereotypes :(

I would have been of the same opinion a wee while ago, but seen him live recently and he was excellent. Great audience participation, so quick witted with whatever was thrown at him, loved it.

Glad he's come in a lot higher than the last list.
