'07 Idle Issues

I have an 07 FLHRC, screaming eagle slip ons with fin, digitally mapped, breather. At 42,000 miles it started stalling out at stops after 1/2 hr rides fires right back up, but annoying as heck. yeah heck. Dealer tells me it's my fuel filter needs changing, I did that and now I notice you refer to a tt410. could I get that please.

anybody followed this TT410 and have any response on it?

I had a similar stalling problem on my 07 Deluxe after 24K miles. My HD guy told me it was a bad idle control motor. He replaced it and it's been perfect since then.

I did the TT410 quite a while ago (about 2 months and 3k miles) and haven't had the problem creep up since. Not to say you might not have an IAC valve problem or a bad TPS, but the factory recognized the early ECM programming was flawed for idle and came up with this flash download as their solution.

Hey ICLICK,bringing bike to be looked at Saturday.I will bring a copy of the TT410 since they do not know what I am talking about. But should I mention the IAC motor or will they be able to bring up some codes.I just want this fixed. Thx

I would hold the dealer to making it work rather than trying one thing after another at your expense. It's hard to say which method will work for you, but after reading all these replies over the past two months I would have to say that replacing the IAC motor would give you the best shot at a fix. It's interesting that my HD tech suggested this first about a year ago but I didn't listen to him, opting instead to try the easier fixes first. All of it was a waste of time until I finally replaced the IAC motor, and it has been behaving itself now for almost two months.

I'm not sure how high- and low-idle issues relate, but most here seem to have the low-idle problems. I was the exception and low-idle stumble (never stalled) occurred only a few times in the year I had trouble with the cold-start high-idle. Also, how the SE AC breather mechanism plays into this is a mystery, but some think channeling the breather blow-by into the throttle body may be contributing to the idle issues by clogging the IAC motor in some way. I know that when I cleaned the orifice a bunch of dark, gunky-looking stuff came out with the carb cleaner. It could also be that cleaning the IAC orifice periodically might help.

Man I am glad to read all this from you folks. I purchased an 07 FLHTCUI the end of May with only 13k miles. Well I am sitting in a hotel in KC, MO returning to FL, been on the road since July 1. Rode to the Black Hills, so far have clocked over 5k miles on this trip and I had the bike in the shop 2 times in Rapid City for both problems. pull the clutch in and it dies, notice popping and rough ilde if it does idle. Hard starting once in a while, mostly starts up and dies. Let it sit for awhile and it may run fine. Sometimes it will start up and rev high up to 2k or 3k on the tach and then work its way back down and will idle then. It never sticks at high idle. The harley shop charged me 158 bucks and only changed the voltage gauge as it was showing overcharging at 16v most the time. Well here I am in KC and still in the same boat. Thanks for the TT now I downloaded it and will take it back to the local dealer when I get back to FL. This is driving me nuts. I know in the am it will work fine, then all of a sudden I will stop for gas and it will act up. I thought it was bad gas. Oh, took it to the HD dealer before I left SD and they could find nothing and wanted another 30+ bucks for diagnostic fees. I got upset and told them you didn't diagnose anything and I paid you for not fixing it before. So they threw that bill away. WHEW!! Thanks I will let you know what happens. Shouldn't the Harley shop know these problems exist?

Good Grief!! 1,300 miles to go to nurse it home and get it fixed I hope!

Well, brought bike in Sat. with the TT-410 with me.They tested th IAC,Temp sensor, looked at my fuel mgt and found nothing. So I am rite back to where I started. It isn't throwing any codes so no way of checking. Of course it will not do it while I am there,so I guess I will have to hope it will go away..not.

Sounds like it could be a dirty fuel filter?
Another possible solution. There's a known issue of pressure build-up in the fuel lines - namely at the quick disconnect. Push up on the chrome ring and down on the fuel line to disconnect. Reconnect by pushing back in until it's captured. If it is pressure build-up, it should fire right up and the line in the tank will eventually need to be replaced.
If not - it was easy to do.
Good luck.

UPDATE: The above earlier post was long and discussed both low and high issues I've had from time to time. I haven't had any problems at all this season so TT 410 solved my problems.

The day to day running has also improved. Gas mileage over the last ~1000 miles has improved to 44.9 mpg with mostly all two up riding (up from ~41 mpg). Also, it had an annoying, intermittent rpm surging when coming to a stop just before I was ready to pull in the clutch. It wasn't nasty; just a nuisance that would occur from time to time. Well, the "surging" has not recurred since the adjustments.
