I would suggest finding another phone that will do what what you need it to do then. Also the suggestion to have other call in about the problem well not a good idea. Reason being Verizon can see if you have actually made calls there. Hopefully people in the area do call.

I don't know if this works on all Verizon phones. I have a Voyager. If you go to Settings and Tools/Phone Settings/Security (enter your security code)/Restrictions.. Then from there you can have your phone only accept calls from your contact list. you can also set the same for text messages...
