World Super Bike!

I hope they don't penalize the Ducati's. Did you see how fast the Honda was on the straights, it blew everyone away by a big margin.

The Duc still looks down on top speed compared to the other bikes, but judging by Biaggi and Bayliss (with two different riding styles), the Duc was very fast in the turns, and had good acceleration coming out. I think Bayliss was having some problems with the front end that he did not talk about, but how great was that seeing out bikes on the track with those guys riding them!!!!

Pretty Damn Great!!! My son and me were going nuts! Man, you talk about riding styles...I know Bayliss may have taken mechanical issues and turned them into "mistakes" when interviewed...but he did make a few noticable mistakes...riding like madman. Did you see his crew chief about tear his hair out? He was pissed!

I honestly think that Bayliss was riding like that for two reasons...

1..... I think he wanted to prove he was in shape after his hard off, and ready to compete for the season.

2..... And I think this may be the bigger part of it, I honestly think with all the hype about the rules changes, and from that - the expectations for this bike, and he being who "he" is....that he HAD to win THAT race for the Factory. It was all him though, b/c his crew chief obviously did not agree.

Too Much FUN!

Yes, great races, but I foresee rules changes throughout the year to handicap the larger cc 1098/1198 "IF" they continue to have success early.

That was a fine opening race. I'm amazed and proud at the small amount of mechanical modifications to those Ducatis but it's nothing compared to the work I'd need to ride like Bayliss. Now a stunt like Haga pulled in race one, that I could do.

What a race, Ducati at its best.

If the entire races are considered and not just the results, there isn't any reason to add more weight to the Ducs (they already carry 6 kg).

Race 1 saw Neukirchner on Suzuki very comfortably up front and with obviously more power in the straights than anyone.

If Haga hadn't pulled his bonehead move there probably would have been two rather than one Yamaha in the Top 4.

Race 2 showed Suzuki with the same power advantage and the win and the Yamahas only fell back due to tire choices else again they would have made the top group.
Not much love for Honda though, Checa showed fairly well in the first and the turkish guy was pretty steady both races.
Even if the results in Philip Island are similar to Quatar, there is no reason for a penalty for Ducati. Or maybe we get penalized for rider talent.

Quit whining and start racing Honda & Co.

For sure they will put a weight penalty on the 1098's...and rightly so. 3 of them in the top 4? Looks like they got the formula wrong.

They are in danger of turning back into the bad old Ducati-Cup days of the past, where the top Duke rider was guaranteed the championship. Not that I am unhappy to see Troy winning of course.

Troy and Casey both winning championships? Go Oz

The Duc is already running on restrictions! It has airduck size restrictors on.

got this info from one of the guys I know, that did the scrutenering for the race.

So expect more complaints from Honda, and probably more restrictions on the next races!

After race one the Ducati riders were obviously sandbagging it in race two, and they still finished 2nd 3rd 4th 5th and 6th. We'll definitely see more restrictions down the road.
