From your brief description of the symptoms, I would inspect the starter clutch.

The mileage isn't bad for that model. Bring a mechanic with you to check it out. Talk to the mechanics at your local bike shop. Ask if anyone would like to make some money to go with you.

When a battery is drained (dead), it loses it's capacity to hold a charge. Remove the (-) cable and charge the battery. Test and record the voltage. Let the battery sit over night and test the battery again. If the voltage dropped significantly - replace the battery.
