I tried to change the flat tube from the bike wheel. I bought...?

I gather that you bought a tube for a 20 x 1 3/8 inch tire and that you have to fold the tube over on itself about 3 inches. If this is so, then it's not normal. But if it worked for the previous tube, I guess it'll work for this one. Something is wrong here tho. Reminds me of the time I...

Have you ever bought a bike from Target or Walmart?

Trusting Bob's experience with Forge bikes, they should be ok. I've had experience with a Schwinn hybrid bought 3 years ago from WM that has held up just fine with NO maintenance. (It's not mine.) My advice: If you buy from a box store, don't leave the parking lot before giving it a good ride...

What's the best way to transport a bike with my Ford Ranger?

Sounds like you're stuck with the hitch mounted rack. Installing the hitch just can't be that big a deal since they're fairly common. Be sure and let the shop know that you intend it for a bike rack and that there will be about 100 pounds of vertical pressure on the hitch. The link is to how...

why couldnt i get my money back at walmart for a bike?

We'd like to know what the ppl at WM told you. They generally honor their return policies unless the customer is obviously trying to rip them off. I am under the impression they have a 90 day policy for bicycles. Just the other day, an employee told me about a person who had returned 3 riding...

im looking for a new bike but but im clueless can someone help?

Seems like a hardtail mtb is what you need, as most of your riding is on trails, and that's what it's specifically designed for. Not as fast as a cyclo cross or road bike, but perfect for where you do most of your riding. The other option is the cyclo cross which would be a bit faster on hard...

Which type of Road bike should I buy?

Fit is First. Go to your local bike shop and fnd out the size you need. Probably the largest. They are unlikely to have a road bike in your price range, but you can ask questions, test ride some, and get a good idea what you need. Then either find a used one, or shop at www.bikesdirect.com...

    squeaky brakes on bike?

im kind of in the middle of getting my bike tuned up. I got nice tires, and i have those on, got a new axle, (which i had broken), oiled the chain, adjusted the gears (because it was refusing to go in to 3rd, so my bike is perfect now! except for one thing. my brakes are load and squeaky, and...

Ok i bought a bmx bike..the first day i sat on it even though it had air the tires

Tubes normally lose air over a period of days. If you're having to pump them more often than every 4 or 5 days, put some spit on the valve stem and look for bubbles. Tighten the valve if you see any. Otherwise, install new tubes, or try patching the old ones.

what type of road bike is recommended for a person 5'10 280lbs.?

Your local bike shop is the place to shop and get questions answered. I'd recommend you get an entry level road bike, about 54 cm. Ride it until something breaks, probably a spoke. Or, maybe nothing. In other words, don't modify anything until you have to. Because of your weight, you may...

Can anyone recommend a good commuter bike? (Bicycle)?

That's about as good as you're going to find. Go for it. All the brand name bikes in a narrow price range will be comparable in quality.

Should I shave my legs for the 2009 Seattle to Portland bike ride?

Really won't matter, one way or the other. That's a big group ride I guess, and it'll be a mixed bag as far as legs go, least for the men. Thought: If you're more of a casual rider, then don't shave. If more of a racing dude, then shave. Or, just toss a coin to decide.

    Can I fit a 50cm road bike?

You can "fit" it but a 48 might be better. I'm 5'7" and ride a 50. I think I'd like a 48 better. Reach, saddle to bar is also important for riding position. That's largely determined by top tube length.

How likely is my bike to get stolen in college?

Bout all you can do is buy a good lock and hope. How high the odds of it getting stolen depends on your school and the neighborhood. School security can probably help you answer the question, and maybe give you some advice about preventing theft. A good looking bike is gonna be a more...
