Have you ever bought a bike from Target or Walmart?

In my past i have had 2 bikes from Walmart. They all worked just fine except for the random chain popin' out of its gears, but that is all the problems i have had with those bikes.(age eventually killed them)
RIP bikes =/

I bought 3 bikes from Walmart all three had problems. Two were returned and the other one required the replacement of the front chain rings. They are junk I will never buy one again. I also bought a Forge Saranac from Target. It's as close to a shop quality bike as you are going to get I have over 1600 miles on it with only a few common adjustments. Forge wont let the guys at Target assemble their bikes so you have to do it yourself.

Trusting Bob's experience with Forge bikes, they should be ok. I've had experience with a Schwinn hybrid bought 3 years ago from WM that has held up just fine with NO maintenance. (It's not mine.)

My advice: If you buy from a box store, don't leave the parking lot before giving it a good ride. Save the receipt in case you want to return it. Take to local bike shop for any fixes/adjustments you can't do yourself.

yeah, for the kids. they dont take care of them anyway and those bikes are rugged and great for what they are. if you want something more for performance they are too heavy.

Years ago when I knew little about cycling I purchased a Next bike from wal mart. There is a reason those are called "next" because not long after you buy one you have to get your "next" bike...they are all pretty much junk and I would never buy another one given the experience and the low quality.

I felt dirty!!

Actually its a good place to buy a mountain bike at a good price
