It was okay, but as so often recently it was spoilt by shots of Merton looking miserable and sulky as he was constantly upstaged by his much funnier "team mate".

Some of the noms I do not agree with: Michael Clayton (which got very average reviews) gets a BP nom over Sweeney Todd for example. What is it with the Academy's love-in with George Clooney? The only actor nom for Atonement was for the young girl! I agree with this. No way did Knightley...

I liked the idea of Laurie being in a mental hospital in Resurrection but her actual death scene is an anticlimax.

Another vote for The Spy Who Loved Me. It moves along at a great pace and Moore (mostly) takes it seriously. Jaws poses a genuine threat and the stunts are all superb. It's not perfect (Barbara Bach can't actually act), but it's pretty great. The car chase is the best, bar none. Other faves...
