Are packets of green tea for brewing healthy?

Hey guys, so here's what's going on - I am now 36 days free of smoking and doing everything in my power to be healthy. I can almost run a mile now, working out at least 3 times a week, probably losing weight though I don't own a scale (I feel like I'm losing weight at least). So I've been on this green tea hike recently. I've been buying it bottled, arizona brand to be exact. Turns out, bottled green tea while yummy has no benefits to you because it loses all of it's healthy antioxidants from the preservatives, and loses it's health benefits from sugar.

I want my green tea healthy! Is buying it in packets for home brewing the same thing basically as getting it bottled minus the suger?

I've started making my own and I'm so happy I have. I buy the kind that comes in glass bottles(I dump out the tea or serve to someone who doesn't care) so the bottles can be sterilized either in the dishwasher or with a tiny bit of bleach now and then but mostly I just clean them with good old hot soapy water.

Then I put in a tea bag of whatever kind I feel like making today(I make 3 at a time as that's all my kettle can hold)and whatever amount of sugar I like (2-3tsps./bottle) and pour in the boiling water. Steep for a few minutes, remove the bag and then put in the fridge. I now have 3 16oz.bottles of good tea with a whole 30-45 calories/bottle. The tea I poured out has about 200 calories per 16 oz. bottle.

I have found that a strong cinnamon tea is great for losing weight as the taste stays in your mouth a long time.

Any green tea is great. You can even filter your water prior to boiling if you want really clean taste.

No preservatives, you control the sugar. And no plastics leaching into the tea. I personally have found that switching to real sugar from artificial sweeteners has made me start to lose my taste for sweets whereas the artificial stuff made me crave it more. I'm slowly using less and less sugar. And remember, it only has 15 calories per teaspoonful.

And by doing only 3-4 bottles at a time, I drink it within 24 hours. I understand you start to lose the benefits after that amount of time. Most is gone before that.

I've never been one for drinking the 64oz of liquids they recommend but doing it this way, it's easy. Think I've got clear urine for the first time in my life. Finally feel really hydrated and it feels good.
