I suspect that the mechanic would have dismantled the carbs, cleaned them thoroughly but just put them back together with nothing set correctly. You will have to set your air mixture screws (probably 1&1/2 turns out from fully seated ,be gentle) Probably wouldn't hurt to check the float levels...
