Barry Lyndon is an excellent film, I remember reading somewhere that Kubrick used only natural light or candles to get a true period feel, and it certainly is a very authentic-feeling picture. Ryan O'Neil is certainly the low point, such a shame they didn't use a more expressive actor.

Yes this film scared me so much as a kid..especially the black widows, the other baddie things ( i cant remember what they were called but they looked scary) and also the bit when the baddie thing kicks the dog in the never ending pit :-( These bits terrorised me for years!
