Just seen Barry Lyndon for the first time. I must admit that I went in to it thinking it was a lot more to do with the war and battles. Although this was not what I saw, I was pleasantly surprised at what a gem of a film this is. It won many awarRAB and justly so. My only gripe would be the acting of Ryan O'Neal. It was pretty poor to say the least. Him apart the rest of the acting was top notch.

Barry Lyndon is an excellent film, I remember reading somewhere that Kubrick used only natural light or candles to get a true period feel, and it certainly is a very authentic-feeling picture. Ryan O'Neil is certainly the low point, such a shame they didn't use a more expressive actor.
