Of all the Friday films I've seen (about half of them) this one is the best because it doesn't take itself seriously. It's tongue in cheek fun - the right approach to take in a franchise that was never very good.

None of you have mentioned Forrest Gump, criminal!!! The double-disc soundtrack is absolutely blinding....Elvis, Simon & Garfunkel, The Doors, Mamas & Papas, Bob Dylan, The Beach Boys, Aretha Franklin, etc. etc. etc. Also, lets not forget Vangelis (Chariots of Fire & Bladerunner....again, superb!)

The Devil's Backbone also fits into the "creepy, not gory" category. I think Del Toro describes it as a "spiritual prequel" to Pan's Labyrinth. Both very good films.
