Yup, that's how mine is setup using Handy Keylock. Open, nada, it always is unlocked. Close it, locks automatically. So, at the OP, try Handy Keylock, it does what you ask. -olly

the first time it starts it does take a pretty long time.. about a minute to start up. once that initial startup is complete, it starts up for me in a few seconds on my e60. the navigation is a little slow, but doesn't really seem much slower than any other mapping application i've used.
