No, it's not possible. If the phone has a sim card, the phone is GSM, Verizon uses CDMA technology. The two technologies are completely incompatible with each other.

That Sprint plan has been around since September 2009 :) T-Mobile is pretty close in price, but AT&T and Verizon are not yet giving the mobile to any mobile up yet... They have much larger networks than Sprint to support, especially Verizon, which makes the cost higher for Verizon.
