if you want to go ten gallon you can buy whole kits at walmart for about 35$ including heater. if you want it cheap petco or petsmart is the worst places to go. you can get everything else at any petshop. for tropical fish i would suggest flakes rather than pellets such as the brand tetrafin is...
i like the peaceful communites but a good semi agressive tank would be some tiger barbs, a little rainbow shark, a pictus catfish, a plecocostomus, and a rafel cat. a peaceful combo could be agel fish, cory cats, dannios, larger neon tetras, and gohst shrimp.
do NOT put two bettas together espoecially in a small tank they will kill eachother. i would highly suggest getting a ten gallon aquarium and splitting the tank in two with a simple tank divider. thats what we do and it seems to work fine but other than that they need seperate tanks.
i am setting up a new 29 gallon salt water aquarium. i currently have a blue/green chromis, yellow tailed blue damsel, a coral banded shrimp, a firefish goby, and a couple small hermit crabs. can anyone suggest anything else?
you should seperat the bowls. bettas are notorious jumpers and if two tanks are next to eachother they will sometimes jump into the other tank. its happened to me before.
large aquariums like that NEED to cycle a while if its brand new water.you absolutely need your chemicals,salt and heat with tropical fish. try cycling your new tank another week or so but add only a few more dannios to jump start it. dannios are hardy and the best to start a tank. i suggest...
