AFAIK, Suzuki books are meant to be studied with a violin teacher who's been specially trained to teach the Suzuki Method -- they're not meant for self-study.
So I wouldn't expect to see very much in the way of tutorial material in the book.

How long have you known this guy? And how long a trip are you talking about? A weekend would be about as long as you'd want for a first date.
