Glad to hear you like it so far. Acer does do upgrades (the A1 got an update just recently), so you won't be completely stuck while waiting for 2.2. For $50 Canadian on a contract, the Liquid e is pretty hard to beat, so for the price, the absence of rooting is probably worth it.
