Put them back in a [this time, lol] "Preheated" oven for about
3 to 5 minutes or until you see they are baked and not oily.
What you described is under baked cookies.
And they should be fine to eat when done.

Is it a two stroke? If so, then maybe four stroke would be the same.
If I remember correctly,There is a cover on the right lower side of the engine that has about 6 to 8 screw type bolts holding it on. [Please bare with me, it's been over 30 years since I worked on one].
That would be the cover...
If it is the removable case cover, drain the oil/trans fluid, and remove it. Find a reputable licensed Heli-arc Welder that specializes in aluminum welding, have him/her weld the crack shut, and to do what's necessary to repair and restore that part. It may cost a few $$$, but it is worth it...
