It wasn't the idea of the episode that sucked, it was the fact that the episode fell apart once they got to Africa and somehow kept going downhill.
I don't actually mind Tale Of... so much, though. It's just an average episode.
I'm still running v.10, but there is a built-in utility in the install that lets you transfer files to the SD card; have you tried that? it's actually in DTG (in my version), under options, manage applications. also have you done a soft reset?
