I used just regular tap water to fill the tank. It's 5 gallons,has a heater,filter,two fake plants,a house and a bridge if it matters any. Do I just add the stuff to get rid of the chlorine and let the filter run or do I need to do anything else?

I received a letter from my school saying there was head lice reported. I'm SUPER paranoid about it! Before all this i got my hair straightened with chemicals which made my scalp flaky. I applied moroccan oil to my scalp and it seemed to do the trick but after i washed it it got flaky again...
