I've read from a couple different places now that the speakers on both the N97 and the OmniaHD are not as loud as the 5800XM, which is especially disappointing to me since I found the speakers on the N95-4 to be louder.

I think that issue, the co-ownership, is going to be a problem for the platform. These types of deals in the past have almost never worked. In this case, even worse: two giant, behemoth (hardware focused) corporations trying to out-nimble HTC, Apple and Google.
