Has anyone used BOTH Zyrtec and Allegra for any length of time? Have you had a beneficial experience or not? I have always used allegra with effect. This summer is the worst though. I don't know if the Allegra is wearing off after 5yrs of using it or my allergies are GETTING worse. I tried Zyrtec for a week - and i had an awful time. However, maybe it neeRAB more time? I was wondering if anyone used them both? Thanks so much.

I use them both and find them beneficial and I take them at the same time in the morning and one extra Allegra in the middle of the afternoon. My allergies are AWFUL. Good luck. Yes, it is a very bad allergy season. Have you tried the Grossan irrigator? That really helps.

Ive never taken them both. I use Allegra during the day, usually a Benadryl at evening, and then Singulair at night.

I haven't had to use the Benadryl in MONTHS, but it does feel like allergies are extra awful right now!!! Im glad im not the only one.. I thought it was just me imagining things. But it seems my nose is always runny!

I start allergy shots this week so hopefully things get better!

I used Allegra for years and then it seemed to stop working. I have been using zyrtec for 4 months. Its kind of strong and gives me side effects. I cut them in half. I take that before bed because it makes me drowsy. I take sudefed during that day and sometimes Benadryl. And nasal spray. I am having the worst summer ever for allergies. I am praying for the first frost.
Hang in there!

Don't take them both at the same time unless your doctor says it's okay! The ingredients are similar and this could cause an overdose.

If you are asking which one is better, that probably depenRAB on the person. I prefer zyrtec, as it seems to help me more. However, my insurance covers allegra since it's prescription, which actually makes it cheaper than paying for zyrtec. So I use allegra since it's cheaper, not because it works better.

I tried Allegra but it never helped me. Switched to Zyrtec a nuraber of years ago and it works well for me. It's never made me drowsy, I do take a benedryl at bedtime every night (dust mites and I sleep with a long haired cat!). Zyrtec in the AM as needed. I've also taken 2 a day when allergies were acting up and it's never made me drowsy. Don't have to do that often though as I did the injections several years ago and am still feeling the benefits of that regimen.

Hi Kehorner,

Well ,Both the medicines work very well in the respective stanRAB. Consult the good doctor and ask the choice regarding Zyrtec and allegra. If allergies occur at high rate and seems to be uncontrollable then try to go for Zyrtec. I am taking Zyrtec if this sudden attacks of allergy occurs.I have to say one thing ,go for check up weekly from doctor. All the best for future life and take the medicines carefully because all the allergic medicines have different power which may or may not be suited on the different personalities. All the human beings have different power of immunity and resistance.

Thanks
