Unfortunately they are on such a low budget they appear to only show films that are in the US public domain.
Big budget or even half decent material is beyond their finances.
They promised to show the Hammer tv series made in the mid 80's (Mystery & Suspense)and the one from the late 60's (Journey to the Unknown) but neither have ever appeared
It is a free channel, hence the daily lineup of repeated showings of some real low budget, corny horror movies.
But it has or does show some interesting enough stuff,i.e
Friday the 13th The Series
Tales From The Crypt the series
Hellraiser 1-3
Dario Argento's Inferno
Confessions of a Serial Killer (underrated HenryOASK type movie)
Jungle Holocust
Mother's Day
I Spit on your Grave
Hills Have Eyes 2
The Fly 2
Plus all those low budget, crappy acted movies are good for a laugh (especially when they star washed up movie stars).
They also seem to have bought a job-lot of 'mockbusters' from The Asylum, including Transmorphers (not Transformers, honest), Invasion (War Of The WorlRAB?? Oh no) and I Am Omega (surely you mean Omega Man/I Am Legend).
Terrible, cheap, quickly-produced nonsense, but always a laugh
I remember when The Horror Channel first launched it was hyped up quite a lot by the owners on their website hinting that we could expect to see a lot of the older horror classics such as Dracula and Frankenstein, but unfortunatley this never materialised. Instead we got crappy cheaply made movies from the 90's and 2000's and the occasional screening of Hellraiser.
It's a bit of a waste of what could have been a great addition to Sky's movie channel lineup. In my view since The Horror Channel became Zone Horror, the channel deteroraited rapidly. I read somewhere that ex- Blue Peter presenter Yvette Fielding owns a part of Zone Horror. Is this true?.. If it is, no wonder it's gone down the pan then
It's not like you have to pay extra for it.
To say most of the films are corny and badly acted, they have the gore and everything and are quite funny in parts. They keep me entertained for hours.
I used to record the movies on Zone Horror on my HDD recorder, and leave it from 9pm to 6am recording.
But by the time I whizzed through all nine hours there was nothing worth viewing, so I deleted the folder.
I sometimes take a chance and leave my HDD on record all night. Very rarely do you get anything worth viewing, but sometimes you do. Once in a blue moon.
There's a horror channel in Spain which I used to pick up once. Now, I can't get it, it's been encrypted. But they used to screen wall to wall classic horror (zombies, vamps, werewolves, slashers, etc) 20 hours a day.
The remaining 4 hours were taken up to show hard core porn.
