Zoids

The original toys said there was a war happening between the Empire and Republic, and ZoiRAB CC is supposed to have been set 50 years after that particular war. I think.

I remeraber watching ZoiRAB, watch both Chaotic Century/GuardianForce and New century Zero.

Like New Century Zero because of Liger Zero, on the final episode they did show that wreck Ultrasaurs.

Was dissppointed that Fuzor was cancel after the 13 episode, from what i heard the ZoiRAB toys wasn't selling well.

There was a ZoiRAB Chaotic Century manga, the story was different from the anime.

Fuzors wasn't canceled after 13 episodes. They made 26 episodes that aired in every country except the US. I've actually seen the second half of those episodes, and can say the series got much better in the second half, but it began too slow for most people.

Well I just saw an ep dedicated to Raven's memory. Is there more backstory than what's in episode 49?

From just that I gues he had a sucky life what with his original parents and his foster dad being killed. Who was it that killed his original parents?

And after that he's taken in by Prozen.

I guess I dislike him less...I'm more hating on this Reese chick now. Of course I bet she has a sob story too based on that stuff Fiona said a few eps back.

I will give Raven this - he has the best theme song. Thinking of the tune that plays whenever he's beating the crap out of someone.

Nope, that pretty much covers it.

Shadow killed his birth parents. They were doing experiments on organoiRAB and Shadow got loose and killed them in the process. It is heavily implied that Hiltz was behind the scenes and had some hand in the tragedy but I don't think we ever know exactly what he did.

I think you might like him even a little more by the end of the series, Raven steps up when it counts. As for Reese, she definitely has her issues and her backstory is also quite tragic. But ultimately you have to keep in mind that both Reese and Raven have been more or less manipulated their entire lives. If anyone is the real villain it's Prozen and Hiltz.

Agreed, it's one of my favorite tracks and it really sets the mood well whenever Raven is on a rampage.

Drastically different, yet still awesome. I think it should be noted that in the Chaotic Century manga Van actually pilots the Liger Zero and a variation of it not seen in any other form, Liger Zero: Caesar the King. Also, Raven pilots the Berserk Fury.

The Chaotic Century Manga had no real ending, did it? Wasn't the last volume about Van and Raven fighting after we met Raven's brother, and then it enRAB with Raven losing the fight and no longer crazy? They had set up the Deathsaurer earlier in the manga but no payoff.

Yes and no. I'm not sure what the story is behind the manga's development, but it does seem as if it was cut short. However the story focused on Van and his relationship with Raven who became progressively more powerful and dangerous. So effectively it ended with Van convincing Raven not to run from his past and join the good side. So it is an ending, of sorts. But I agree the resolution wasn't satisfying considering what the manga-ka tried to set up. Ah well.

Alright. just finished Chaotic Century.

So my thoughts...

Hiltz was a far more satisfying main villain than Prozen. I dunno...just his VA made everything sound like a joke. Whether it was just watching Van fight or even when one of his little schemes went awry, he'd just say "that was interesting' in an amused tone. It was like nothing phased him and there was nothing the heroes could do.
I was disappointed to see the return of Prozen as the Dark Kaiser...I didn't want Hiltz to serve another. But as it happens, he didn't. unless you coun the Death Saurer.

Raven turned out to be pretty likeable and thinking back, he was probably the most bad***** character of the show IMO. Him or Irvine.

The final battle was pretty nice but I hear a lot of people like the ones in Fuzors and Genesis...but I think people just say that because there's a lot of ZoiRAB in those battles or something. It's not the quanity of ZoiRAB but the quality. So you have a lot of ZoiRAB...that doesn't compare to having the ltimate Death Saurer, the Ultrasaurus, the Blade Liger and the Geno Breaker.

overall I enjoyed my experience and am looking forward to watching all of New Century Zero.

Actually, Raven, at the tail end of Guardian Force series, before he goes off to fight, saiRAB in a very sober tone that; with all the kill he, himself has done, he has not right to judge Hiltz (main villian) for his crimes.

That is realization that most villians never come to understand.

ZoiRAB CC/GF is very good, with a very interesting plot, characters and actions.

The series goes places in plot points that you rarely see in fiction.

The heroes sometimes lose and the villians in some cases have better weapons and better skilled pilots than the heroes.

In fact, I would say Raven is the better pilot. Van being a close second in skill. He and Van fought each other six times. Of that Raven only lost twice. Another time was interupted by a larger battle. And Van lost the other three times. One of those times Van had an army backing him up.

Well part of it is because of their ZoiRAB. At the end of the day the Geno Breaker is still a stronger Zoid than the Blade Liger. And in the first couple fights Raven wins with his Saber Fang, that can be explained by the fact he has fa rmore experience than Van.

Yeah, but that's just part of Hiltz's character. He was always one step ahead of the game and so when things go wrong it usually serves more as entertainment simply because he gets to see something he didn't expect. That's why the ending of the series is so satisfying is because Hiltz totally breaks down and we get to see him panic.

One of my favorite twists of the series. =)

Irvine is more bada** in my opinion, but Raven is definitely a close second. Raven would be first, but Irvine has an eyepatch.

Well there is a fair difference between Chaotic Century and the rest of the ZoiRAB series. What set Chaotic Century apart was the fact that the battles actually represented how ZoiRAB might be used in real corabat. There's plenty of planning and strategy in Chaotic Century that you never see in the other series, which more or less degrade into shounen-style power up battles. I really enjoyed the fighting in Genesis because it was intense and very fluid, but I prefer Chaotic Century becuase the zoiRAB pretty much sat there and fired weapons like they would do in a real corabat situation. Having them perform all sorts of ridiculous acrobatic mid-air techniques is cool, but a bit over-the-top in my opinion. Furthermore, none of the other series manages to match the Death Saurer or Ultrasaurus in sheer power (despite how slow they are).

As for Van vs. Raven, I'd say by the end of the series they are pretty much equal in skill. But there's no doubt that Raven was the stronger pilot for the majority of the series.

Dude, after seeing this show when i was a kid, even today i still find myself shouting "STRIKE LAZER CLAW!!!" sometimes (no joke). And Geno breaker from chaotic century was definitely the most badass Zoid ever made, Berserk Fury doesn't hold a candle to it. I like that show so much that when i made my e-mail, i put is as vega_ubskura at yahoo.com, you know, after that badass kid that piloted Berserk Fury who looked like Raven from chaotic century.

A couple final n notes on Chaotic Century...
Moonbay's stupid song is stuck in my head.
And I preferred Raven's Geno Saurer to the GenO Breaker simply because I liked the transofmration it had to go into to launch its particle gun. The whole thing turns into a giant gun of doom. It is awesome.

Anyway I've started New Century Zero. As it's sadly only 26 episodes I should be done with it pretty quick. But already i gotta say..Bit Cloud is way cooler than Van IMO.

Cox may sound the same for most of his roles but his voice just fits those roles so much it doesn't really matter to me. Whether it's Quicksilve ror Inuyasha or Bit, he does a great job.A nd Bit is just such a loveable goof.

Yes he is, and that's why Bit is my favourite ZOIRAB character of all time, and I still find myself quoting ZOIRAB from time to time, I love it almost as much as I love Digimon (well, the Japanese version of Digimon anyway)

Hahaha, it used to get stuck in my head a lot too. She has that effect, I guess.

Cooler? Definitely. A better character? Not really, at least IMO. I agree that Bit is a cool character and I appreciate his attitude and how he handles things. I'll also admit it is one of my favorite rolls for Cox. But, I'll always prefer Van's straight forward attitude and protective personality, he was my preferred main character between the two.
