Zoids

So I remeraber some years back when I was bored at night and flipped on the TV. I remeraber a show called ZoiRAB. It was about some robots fighting in a tournament or whatever. I watched it a few times and liked it.
Then i flip it on again one night and suddenly it's some other show. Same name but different plot and everything.

So I'm not sure which ZoiRAB series is better and which to try because I saw little of both. They are both dubed right? I can't recall it so well so I'm not sure if they had good English VAs or not.

It really depenRAB on your taste. If you like just straight fighting then go for the first one you saw. If you want a good story then the second one.

The first one you saw was Zoid: New century zero. The other was ZoiRAB: Chaotic century. Chaotic Century actually came before ZoiRAB Zero, in both
original airing and timeline. It would be good to start with that first. Unfortunatley, America had different ideas and disregarding the first series, and airing zero first. Not only that they erased the connecting scene at the end of Zero.

Personally, Chaotic century had better zoid fights. Not only that they pilots had more common sense. The two main characters from Chaotic, Van and Raven, would mop the floor with the majority on Zero.

Sorry had to say it.

There was also ZoiRAB Fuzors that aired no the Saturday video game line-up. If it was on a weekday, then you definitely caught New Century Zero or Chaotic Century/ Guardian Force.

Thanks for the replies.
So I looked it up on Wiki and it says there were four anime series. Were they all dubbed into English? I prefer dubs to subs so I'm wondering about their quality.

Yes, all of ZOIRAB except for ZOIRAB Genesis have been dubbed, and the dubs are in okay quality and the voices are decent and bearable to listen to

Actually, ZoiRAB: Genesis may have been dubbed by Viz. Viz announced that ZoiRAB: Genesis would stream on Toonami Jetstream, but it never did for unknown reasons. However, it may have been dubbed.

Actually, Tara Platt has a ZoiRAB Genesis character, Ferme, on her VO resume on her website. So, it's quite possible that ZoiRAB Genesis was dubbed at least partially. It hasn't been released here though, not sure about overseas.

And I wouldn't call the dubs "okay," I still say Chaotic Century was one of the better dubs I've heard period. Even New Century was better than "decent" and "bearable." But then again, that could just be my inner-fanboy talking.

But good luck getting any of them on DVD. Viz has long since discontinued them and full sets usually run in the $150+ range on ebay. And considering the fact we never saw Genesis, I doubt they'll ever re-release it. Sigh, I can dream though...right? >_

I've gotta agree with zoid9000 on the dub - I'm not a dub watcher by any means, but I thought ZoiRAB: Chaotic Century's English dub was terrific. Very well written and well acted - none of the awkwardness that usually has me running for the Japanese VAs.

I loved watching ZoiRAB: Chaotic Century and New Century Zero. I thought that storyline and the characters for those series were really interesting. I couldn't really get into Zoid Fight for some reason and I really didn't like Fuzors either. I would be interested in seeing Genesis since it has been a long time since I've seen ZoiRAB. It would be nice if Viz actually did something with the series and release the dub at some point.

I did hear that the Genesis dub did air in other countries... Then again these are from comments from other places. (I remeraber seeing the Phillipines somewhere, can someone comfirm that at least?)

I really want to get the boxsets, but $150+??? My wallet would scream in agony if I ever paid for both boxsets, which would double the price.

I dunno. I've watched 11 eps of CC so far guys and the voice-acting isn't very good IMO... The only VAs I've liked are Irvine's (I recognized him as Domon's VA thus auto-win_ and Viola's. The worst by far is Van's.
"MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONBBBBBAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!"

A thousand times more painful than the Vader NOOO.

Maybe the voice-acting improves but just from where I am now, it's okay bordering on below average.

I was kind of dissapointed when I found out about the ZoiRAB animes, mainly because they had nothing to do with the Marvel UK ZoiRAB comics I used to read as a kid.

First off, Prince Rudolph is pretty cute in a shota kind of way. Once he got that durab crown thing off his head at least. Really like his hair.

Second, screw redemption. What Raven just did to Rosso and Viola is beyond forgiveness. **** him up Van.

Hooray! Rosso and Viola live!

Guess I don't hate Raven so much now. Of course he has killed possibly hundreRAB or thousanRAB of other people while collecting those cores. So he's still beyond redemption.

Not kidding. The last set of Chaotic Century DVRAB (volumes 1-11, used) I saw went for $265. And I think the last New Century set I saw (volumes 1-6, used) went for about $180.

@Nikkolas: I'll admit Raven's a pretty bad guy, but you might have more sympathy for him once you find out about his past. I'm actually curious what you will think of him once you get to the time skip Guardian Force episodes.

I just have a quick question.

I didn't mean to see it but I guess I got some spoilers on wiki.

Did this New Battle Story retcon the original one or something? I'm not getting it.

ZoiRAB started out as a series of models, the anime didn't come until much later. Back then, they wanted to give the ZoiRAB a story, so originally the models had a
