ZLauncher

Mornin' (here at least) .......

I received no joy when posting this question to the developer of ZLauncher (although I do think they are ........for the most part ........very responsive). Anyway, here was my question posed:

I use "TealLock" to secure my handheld .

I have the bottom toolbar on ZLauncher set to have the "Power Off and
Lock" icon on the toolbar for easy locking of my handheld via ZLauncher.

Unfortunately, when I tap on that icon, it evokes the built in
security application and locks the handheld via it. I would like to have TealLock lock my handheld when tapping the "lock" icon within ZLauncher.

Is this possible some how?

I tried to change the creator ID of TealLock to: ' scrt ' but that
did not work- it still evoked the built in security app.

Thanks for any advice out there? ZLauncher folks said they have no control over it.

1. No, ZLauncher would have no control over it (unfortunately) -- ALTHOUGH "Off and Lock" usually tells TealLock to activate AS WELL AS the "internal lock mechanism." This is ZLauncher problem, not a T/L problem as other apps saying "off and lock" activate T/L at least for me.

2. OK, now the fixes: . . . If you have TealScript, the new version allows for "off and lock" with a stripe up the middle of the screen; you could disable the ZLauncher "command." I wouldn't race off and start chaning creator ID's!

3. TealLock has so many AUTOMATED lock variables, it is possible to have it just lock for you 1-2-3 minutes after power off or x minutes after sign-in, and again forget the ZLauncher "button."

4. You can assign multiple button presses (datebook and address at same time, HELD a second) to activate TealLock . . .

all in all many options for locking combined with the TealScript "screenstripe." ScrnButton (freeware launcher I use in conjunction with TealLaunch) also has an off and lock option "button." Come to think of it, so does TealLaunch.

5. I've never liked ZLauncher. Sorry.

Hmmm......

That's interesting. Even the pen swipe up activates the "built-in" security app.

Thanks for all of your feedback ........this (and previous) post.

BTW ...... Don't think I should "tinker" huh? ....lol ;o)

Cheers,

A little OT but as many will know, I do like ZL but fear it is turning into bloatware (wav sounds for button presses etc for chrissakes).....soon it will be indistinguishable from silverscreen...horror!

SoS, your signature line goes well with your post... and I'll stick with LauncherX myself. (.wav sounds for button presses? I thought colored folder tabs was pushing toward bloat!)

Lots of people LOVE ZLauncher . . .but I am guessing it's either bordering on 1MB or over that - I just don't think you need a 1MB launcher.

TealMaster is 85k (RAM only)
TealLaunch is 60k (RAM only)
ScreenButton (freeware) is 30k incl. Dbase, runs in flash

You just can't beat that considering penswipes, buttons, buttons HELD, button combinations, and the pop up launch window - the bottom entry of which is "ScreenButton." for 170k I can launch 53 apps with (at most) 3 screen taps, one penstroke or 2 buttons.
