Zio update!

Allow me to borrow a famous movie quote, modified for use here:

I have heard so many different update dates about the upgrade, from when the phone was released to late winter.

well today i called cricket the agent told me to go to kyocera website or go to cricket store. I was smart enough to call cricket store before jumping in the car. They say its going to be a over the air or a link of some sort i hope its a manual update since this gives the source code to us so we can get developers looking in to get a unoffical updates lol wishing to see 2.2.1 or 2.3 on this phone. The cricket agent locally told me it will be in jan that we get this. Also called Kyocera too they also saying there would be a update in a few weeks as well. so i figure if they are on the same page about information then we most likely will see the update even though im not counting on this.. if i dont see it by march ill be updating my phone to another providers android to flash over.

The ZIO update is scheduled to be loaded into store computers next week. You'll be able to go into a store and have them flash it to 2.2. You will also be able to connect to a wifi network and go to settings>about phone>check for update and have the phone update that way. Because there are more than 100k ZIO customers the don't want to strain the network by pushing the update out OTA. We were just trained on it. Not much longer to wait!

I have had zero problems with reception and call quality on my Zio. Your mileage may vary, but I have found it to be better than some of the phones I have had on the Cricket Network.

The touchscreen on the other hand neeRAB some serious work.

So that I am clear 3 method possible

1. In store

2. Go to settings>about phone>check for update and have the phone update that way.

3. OTA Which may not happen because of load.

Cant wait.

Quick question, when we finally do update to 2.2 will this erase all are apps & contacts that are already on the phone? Thanks

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry9530/5.0.0.419 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

But is bottlenecked by the old OS and a fubared touch screen? All signs point to ascend so far.

does anyone have a sprint recovery rom i can get from them for the zio or a phone dump for the sprint zio wanna start testing it out on a sdk to see if i can develop a work around any help would be good thanks

I am not a cell phone guru, flasher etc....just a guy who had troubles with a phone and received help through PM's from a cool guy on this forum. (you know who you are, Hello by the way ! )

I check in now and then as I ended up buying a Zio and am watching for update help and figure you guy's will know first :clapping:

I wrote a flaming letter to Kyocera reguarding this subject, I am not going to include my letter but I will copy and paste their response.

Take it for what it is, a company trying to get me to shut up and make me happy, will it happen, I think so and the more of you who write in the better. :2thurabs:

Here is the reponse, I found it funny they got my name wrong when it is all over my e-mail !!

I think it's Cricket holding off on it since they want to charge for tethering. And obviously one of the features of 2.2 is the mobile HotSpot.
