Zelda: TP... Gamecube or Wii?

I'm probably not going to buy a Wii until SSBB comes out. However, I do own a Gamecube (which collects and lot of dust) and I really want to play the new Zelda.

However, I've heard it sucks bad on GC. Is it really that bad? Should I just wait the months until I buy a Wii and then pick it up?

I had it on GC but just sold it because I got a Wii, haven't played on Wii yet but I can't imagine it being vastly different. Probably slightly better on Wii but I doubt its anything major.

Same thing on both. They just reversed the world east-to-west, controls obviously, and the Wii is in 16:9 I believe.

Yeah, from what I could see from playing the GC version and watching the Wii version was that the graphics are the main difference, aside from the obvious control set up.

@ sucks bad.... smack whoever said that to you. I've played both versions, they're exactly the same with the exception on controller interface and east-to-west mapping being inverted like someone mentioned. On a standard crt TV, the graphics are the same, to me at least--so if one "sucks bad" then they both do... but that's obviously not the case since the game kicks ass no matter which console it's on.

The GC is fine but I would go with the Wii version. It freshed up zelda for me and I'm having a blast playing it. 13 hours in

I don't know if I plan on getting a Wii ...if I do, it won't be for awhile and I kinda want to pick it up for the GC. The lack of widescreen and 480p really turns me off though.

Well the reason my friend said it sucks bad is because he said the Wii remote makes doing things like shooting the boomrang/hookshot/bow and arrow a lot easier. He said the controls on the Wii make the GC one not worth playing and he's played both.

Your friend isn't too bright then, the Wii controls are more fun compared to a normal interface like the GCN, but every single Zelda game before TP on the Wii has been played with a normal controller interface, ergo at the worst, TP for the GameCube would be normal or more of the same.

Rent it.

Each has its advantages and disadvantages. They both look the same, although I could swear that the GC version looks better. When playing the GC, see if there is any "light bloom" when you first meet Zelda. Maybe I was too involved since I first met Zelda on the GC version. When I met her on the Wii version I became aware of the light bloom (like what happens on a 27MHZ DAC versus a 108MHZ DAC in a DVD movie: you can detect layers of light in a darkened background. It looks like halos of light or layers of darkness, with fuzziness all around.) Everything is reversed for the GC version, which is why there are different books for it.

Rent it for $7 and play it for a week.

What I like most on the Wii is Midna laughing through the built in speaker. Swinging on the monkey tails is harder on the GC, but swishing the sword is easier on the GC. Rolling and knocking into things is easier on the GC. In the heat of battle I've hit other Wii buttons whereas not so on the GC. I really think that the buttons should be repositioned on the Wii. Targeting is slower on the GC. Changing weapons & maps is easier on the GC. Doing a 360 sword turn is easier on the GC. Doing a down stroke is easier on the Wii. Doing a forward thrust is easier on the GC.
