Zach Hall in 2028

I was just playing around one day when I figured out the next Presidential election I would be over 35 in was the 2028 election. I then started asking people if they would vote for me in 2028 and to tell their frienRAB about me trying to convince them to vote. If I start a chain where every person recruits 4 people within the state, after 10 steps down the chain I will have the majority of my state. After a week there were people I'd never seen before asking me if I was Zach Hall, that they were voting for me in 2028. But I figure I better start spreading the word to other states. The best way to do that? The internet. So I figure it may take a little longer that all the money on TV aRAB, but hey, I've got another 19 years. If you are alive, you will be old enough to vote in 2028, but please don't vote in this poll if you plan on dying by 2028 :)

I need to set up an email list for all the potential voters to subscribe to for a count as well as a method of sending emails out. I also need to type up a platform to be sent around. :)

That could be hard to win the majority in your state in the primaries. I am not to sure what state you live in but I know in some states, such as in Kansas, you have to eitehr be Democrat or Republican to vote in the primaries.
In all honesty, it would be better if you were one or the other because then you could go up for the debates held in October of '28.

Well, currently in Kansas (unless it's changed in the last few years) you have to be one or the either to vote. Of course being a Democrat, I wasn't able to vote for a canadate in the primaries because it was already down to one canadate by the time Kansas had their late primary.

What do primaries have to do with this? Aren't primaries within a party? So if there are several Democrats that wish to run, the Democratic Party holRAB primaries to see who gets the Democratic nomination? I wouldn't need to worry about the primaries, only getting on the ballot and then winning the election.

Before the last election and as a lark, I announced on another forum that I was running for president. Since the Green Party was already taken, I declared on the Bright Red Clearcoat (the color of my truck) Party. I promised, if elected and for the good of the nation, to resign just as soon as my pension was secured, a book deal was closed and I finished interviewing intern candidates. Normally the fact that I was woefully under-qualified would have deterred me, but since my major opponents were Dumb and Dumber, I soldiered on waiting for a massive inflow of campaign contributions which have yet to arrive. My advise for Zach would be to advocate pulling the troops out of Iraq (they will probably still be there when he runs) and launching an immediate invasion of Tahiti. The reasoning being that Tahiti is much closer, the people are friendlier, the troops won't mind their extended rotations there, the climate is better and they have they same amount of WMD's as Iraq. I would even consider being his ambassador to facilitate the selection of a new government.

No, by independent I mean not part of any political party.

By the way, here's what George Washington had to say about political parties. It was like he could predict the future.

"All obstructions to the execution of the Laws, all combinations and associations, under whatever plausible character, with the real design to direct, control, counteract, or awe the regular deliberation and action of the constituted authorities, are destructive of this fundamental principle, and of fatal tendency. They [political parties] serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put, in the place of the delegated will of the nation, the will of a party, often a small but artful and enterprising minority of the community; and, according to the alternate triumphs of different parties, to make the public administration the mirror of the ill-concerted and incongruous projects of faction, rather than the organ of consistent and wholesome plans digested by common counsels, and modified by mutual interests.

"However combinations or associations of the above description may now and then answer popular enRAB, they are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people, and to usurp for themselves the reins of government; destroying afterwarRAB the very engines, which have lifted them to unjust dominion."

Be very careful what you wish for .... it may come true and turn out to be your worst nightmare. Future presidents and future generations will have to face the results of the follies and blunders of those that preceded them. Here's something from the past to consider for your platform:
"The budget should be balanced; the treasury should be refilled; public debt should be reduced; and the arrogance of public officials should be controlled." -Cicero. 106-43 B.C.

Anyone know if they were issues in 1984? If they were brought up with in the last 22 years, then surely they can be hushed down in the next 22 years...maybe.

Just please, don't go misunderstanding the lyrics to any Bruce Springsteen songs like that really annoying guy who ran for president and won in 1984, okay. Anyone who can't comprehend the original lyrics to songs by the Boss don't deserve to be president.

But even though those won't be the particular mediums, it will most likely be the same battles. How much power should have the government have? How much security should we sacrifice for freedom and vice versa? How do you appease the voters yet also not spend so much money? What role should religion/morality play in government?

It may not be flag burning in 22 years, it may not be the 10 commandments in the courthouse or gay marriage, it may be cursing in public, "in God we trust" on money, and there will always be some form of terrorism.

Yes I would have loved to have seen Bruce sue the republicans for the breach of copyright. New Jersey wanted to use born to run as the state song now that is misunderstandig of some lyrics " Got to get out while we are young", "This towns a death trap", "It rips the bones from your back" What would that say about New Jersey?

"Tramps like us..."

Okay, there are probably 4 reasons for New Jersey wanting to use "Born To Run." Now keep in mind, this is just guessing.
1) The Boss is from New Jersey. It would be like Kansas (the state) using "Rocky Mountain Way" or some other song by Joe Walsh since he was born in Wichita.
2) New York probibly suggested it to them since they think they own New Jersey anyway.
3) They honestly never bothered to look at the lyrics.
4) They really do want to get out of there.
